It would be a perfect day to sleep in, too bad for that job thing. Rest day, my legs feel beat up from yesterday. Now I need to figure out if I want to try another half. 2 weeks seems a little too close given how I feel this morning. Next one I was eyeing is a month out. If I do that, how should I handle the next 4 weeks? Recover, 2 weeks of workouts, then taper? Go Ginny & Bluerun and anyone else running Boston! Hope things clear up a bit for you.

Last fall I ran 4 halves and a 10-miler, each two weeks apart. I basically had a rest day after each, then 2 - 3 days of just easy running, then back to full mileage training, and finally a 2-day taper (if you can call it that). In fact, one of my best halves came while I was training for a marathon, so I'm not sure how much rest is needed before a race. Individual experiences will vary, of course.
5k 23:48.45 (3/22); 4M 31:26 (2/22); 5M 38:55 (11/23); 10k 49:24 (10/22); 10M 1:29:33 (2/24); Half 1:48:32 (10/22); Marathon 4:29:58 (11/23)Upcoming races: Clinton Country Run 15k, 4/27; Spring Distance Classic 5k, 4/28
When I did AC in 2016, the weather also sucked. I didn't think it could be much worse baring a full blown nor'easter. I was wrong. I did a second half 3 weeks later. I think my mistake was I tried doing a workout 1 week after AC, then felt beat up for the back up race (which wound up short ). So I know what not to do, jusyneed some way to maximize recovery and maintain.

Jesus, the wind jackets the elites have on look like open parachutes.

Atlantic City Race Weekend.
Nice job, Fred! That wind can be a soul crushing killer for sure. And it sounds like your boy had a great time Saturday. That was definitely a beautiful day and of course you'd rather save the lousy weather for your own race.
Ha, I just commented on that on the other thread. I can't imagine racing in a nylon jacket under any conditions, just seems it would trap too much heat, even when it's that miserable out.
Oh and with that much rain, I cannot even imagine the chafing.

I wore a jacket yesterday. I took it off at mile 3 (explains why it's slower) and promptly but it back on at the turnaround. I was SO glad I had it. I would have froze otherwiae.
That has to be adding a lot of extra drag. I saw people in my race yesterday running in ponchos that were snapping in the wind behind them.
Is it common for some of the elite men to overtake some of the elite women, or was that more a function of today's weather conditions?
Thanks, and you're exactly right about which day I'd want the better weather.
Finish line cam so we can now watch the carnage that will be the age group finishers.

I wore my "winter" running jacket in that monsoon Saturday. It was a much better choice than the running jacket I own that is specifically for rain, which feels likea sauna.
Jay26578 is in at 2:58. Nice work, Jay!
I see they show runners' splits every 5k and at the half mark. Why do they also show a 20 mile and 21 mile split, in between the 30k and 35k splits?
I would imagine the proliferation of high profile cheating has a lot to do with it.
Pretty impressive in those conditions! Of course, getting out of bed is impressive in those conditions. And he is usually 2:40ish, which is a good indicator of what this did to people.
Interesting thought, so I looked at the map. It looks like Heartbreak Hill is between miles 20 and 21, so they're showing splits before and after. I guess that let's you see what the hill does to people.
