Hey Wednesday Penguins - Do you Ever Feel Like Laying On Your Driveway...... (Read 57 times)

Fear is a Liar

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails!

What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

      Good morning colony!

Do you ever feel like lying on your driveway until you show up on Google maps? That would be cool!

Last night was a good night for a run - 70 degrees and low humidity. So after physical therapy I ran a nice 7 miler. Then afterwards I had a glass of red wine and sang some karaoke!

      Smaller By The Day

I never thought about that Gustav, but its not a terrible idea.

Jerry - From yesterday's thread...Did you talk your wife into keeping the singlet?

AFM - I have to leave way too early this morning to get in a morning run.  So, I'm going to make time for 6-8 miles tonight after work.

          Good morning everyone!!

Happy National Running Day!  I celebrated by running of course. Smile  Will do some more running this evening with a few hundred locals at a National Running Day celebration down by the beach.

Gustav, I like that idea, or maybe spelling something out in your yard with rocks. Smile  It's been in the 70s here too, not too hot, just about perfect.

Awood, have a good run later!

Hope everyone has a great day!

            Morning colony!

Gustav, I have never thought of that but now I am.  I think it would be kind of cool.  That or putting g something in the driveway until it shows up on Google maps.  Nice run last night and mmm red wine!

Awood, good luck on tonight’s run

            Dave, happy running!

Sorry I’ve been MIA the last few days I’ve just been super busy and have had no down time.  I learned to paddle board yesterday and OMG it was so much fun!   I even did some yoga on the board.  Between that, the field trip I brought my students on yesterday, and working out I was tired so I went to bed early and skipped yesterday’s run.  I’ll be heading out after work for whatever my heart desires.

            Happy National Running Day everyone!!!

              Good morning!

Gus -- yes, the weather was gorgeous last night.  I think we are in for more of the same today.

Awood -- boo on early work starts.

Dave -- I hadn't heard yet that it is National Running Day.  I've got my running clothes here at the lab for an after-work run...maybe I should just put them on now and tell the boss that I'm celebrating

Steph -- I've been wanting to try a paddleboard.  Does it take a long time to learn to balance?  My daughter wants us to buy one to use on the lake at our moutain house, but I don't want to invest the $$ until we give it a try and are sure we can manage.  It looks like it is a good core workout.

AFM -- did my intervals last night  I hope they are doing something to help for the long term, because they are not fun.  5-6 easy miles planned for after work.

Gustav, Haven't thought of that... Hmm.. so I shouldn't be sunning naked anywhere just in case it show up on Google map..

Dave, Didn't know that it is a National running day.. Woohoo~!

Steph, sound like a fun day..

Only managed to squeeze in 3 easy miles before work today. Probably can't add any after dinnger.. so that's it for the day..

                  Return To Racing

Morning Gus, aw, Dave, Steph, Margo, Bin and Penguins.     National Running Day!!!     Darn it,  I was planning to run today.  Now I have to make other plans.  Cry

                      Howdy all.

Either 10 or 6 w/ a 4 mile tempo tonight. I am undecided. I haven't done any speed in about a month because I hate doing speed when it gets hot.

                        More cowbell!

Morning all!  Happy National Running Day!

                          Planned 5-6 easy tonight.

Never thought about lying down on the driveway...might attract the buzzards.  Although if I go shirtless, they might be blinded for awhile!

Awood-Belated congrats on the wedding.  Awesome job on the cake!

Dan-Saw your vacation plans from yesterday.  Wow!  All of it sounds wonderful, especially the trip to Bengbu!

Phillie-Agreed.  They are not fun.  If they were, everyone would do them.

                          STILL HAVING FUN!!!

                          Zelanie

Morning!  Today I have just my 1 mile run at PT.

Gustav- Sounds like you are getting some more downtime, but by bit.  You can run after PT?  I'm under strict instructions to not run after my leg exercises just because the muscles wouldn't be supporting my knee if they are fatigued.

Awood- Hope that you have a good run later!

                            D2- Enjoy national running day!

Steph- Gotta be getting close to the end of the year for you!  When do you get out?  We are done on the 12th.

Margo- Good job on the intervals!  They can be really tough for me too.

Bin- Glad you were able to get some miles in.

Jerry- Hope your day goes well.  Are you not running today just to be contrary, or because something came up?

Dan- Hope you rock the tempo!

                            D- Enjoy the miles!

FFB- Enjoy the run later.  I finish almost every outside run with vultures circling overhead.  I suppose that's not a good sign.

                            One Half So Far

                              Mornin y'all.

4.5 slow miles last night...was warm, I was tired and my legs are still a little sore from 5-mile race last Saturday night.

In other news, 3 more days with kids, one more day without them, then 60-day weekend.

Gustav: You have more guts than I do.  Singing in public is a no-go for me.

Awood: That's how I do it.  I always seem to have more important things to do in the morning. Like sleep.

D^2: Have fun running on the beach.

Steph: Sounds like you're having fun. A good thing imho.

Margo: I haven't started on anything like that yet.  Maybe the guy who runs the group I'm starting with this weekend will give me some to do.

Bin: Grats on the 3, hope work goes well for you today.

                              Jerry: That sounds like me.

                              Dan: Do what feels good.

Damaris: Thanks.  Now I have Super Freak stuck in my head, only with slightly different lyrics.

FFB: If I lied down on my driveway, my wife would cover me with compost.

Zel: Easy day = not a bad thing.  Have fun with your last week or so before YOUR long weekend.

AFM, RD.  Going to ride my bike to work on Friday (26 miles). Figure I have to leave 4:30 in the AM or so.  Couple of teachers at my work are going to run it, and a team of kids are going to relay it.  Others will be doing HM, 10K or 5K walk/run/bike. Will try to go 5-6 mi tomorrow, and I start with the local legend in his group on Sunday.  Will be different to run WITH other people.

                              Have a good day, amigos.

Another HM sometime in October or November.  Several to choose from.

Phillie, I got on the board and within 5 minutes was standing up. I started by straddling the board, then kneeling, then standing. I even ended up doing yoga on the board and didn’t fall. I will be looking for a used board soon. It is a leisurely activity but you do use your core and even your legs and ankles a lot. I’ll try and post pics tonight when I get home. I agree that intervals aren’t fun but they do help and I actually enjoy them now. I like pushing myself. Good luck on tonight’s miles!

Bin, it will be a fun day. There is low humidity too so, yay!!! 3 miles are better than no miles!

Dan, Dan, he’s the man!! Sorry, that’s what popped into my head, haha. I wouldn’t want to do speed work in your weather either. Good luck on tonight’s miles.

Fitfatboy, good luck on tonight’s miles.

Zelanie, our last day is the 25th. We had a A LOT of snow and hurricane days this year. Good luck at PT!!
