Time to upgrade the Garmin 610. I want the wrist heart rate monitor and smart features. Looks like my options are the 235, 735, and 935. I am not a triathlete so I see no reason to go for the 735. That leaves the 235 and 935. I am strongly leaning towards the 235 because I am a old fart that probably will not use the advanced training features in the 935. The shiny, new 935 is hard to find, and it is $200 extra dollars that I will not have to spend. What do y'all think?
Personal Bests:
800M - 2:38 (5/28/13) | 1 Mile -5:54 (5/28/13) | 3K - 11:55 (12/29/12) | 2M - 13:00 (12/1/12) | 5K - 20:00 (4/12/13) | 13.1M - 1:37:24 (2/3/13)
I don't know what the 935 has that I don't, but I have the 235 and I like it. I can program screens to have a track screen and a regular screen, plus I get heart rate, recovery, and v02 max info. That's plenty for me.
Thanks Z. The last 200 series Garmin I had was in 2011-2012. It was pretty basic. It sounds like the new ones are closer to what the 600 was when I purchased the 610 plus some added features which sounds good enough for me.
I replaced a 600 series with it and it was a step up.

The 935 is also a triathlon watch.
MTA: Hmm, I was kinda wrong. It IS a tri-watch, but DcRainmaker has it as a "triathlon/multisport…and running-specific focused watch"

Released like a week ago which is why it's probably hard to find...lot of suckers jumping on the new release. I will not buy a new model until it's been out for at least a year.
Dan, if all you are doing is running, the 935 will be way overkill.

I don't even know what the 935 does, but I can't imagine needing more than my 220, which is of course a couple notches below the 235.
Dave
I got the 235.
Likes - HRM, charger is huge improvement over 610, Will do my first run with it a lunchtime so I will what I think of it as a running watch. The HRM seems to measure my resting heartrate at slightly below what I think it should.
charger is huge improvement over 610
Before my 220, I had a 210 which had the notoriously finicky clip charger. The charger for the 220 has been rock solid; I assume the 235 uses the same one. This is a life-changing improvement; the other is the built-in accelerometer which lets you start running before it picks up a sattelite.
charger
My Garmin progression has gone from 410 to 610 to 620 to 920. Also, DW has owned a 910 and a swim watch. Every charger has been different. THAT is annoying.
I have owned three android smartphones over the years and the charger has not changed.

Third Garmin and third different charger. The 610 was the worst of the three. You would have to get it just right or it doesn't charge.
410, 220, 620, 630 for me. I've never had an issue with charging any of them. :knocks on wood:
The best part is that I have buttons now instead of that annoying touch bezel.
I forgot all about the touch bezel on my 410!
I actually didn't mind the bezel, it was waiting an eternity to acquire a satellite that stuck in my craw. There were days when I stood outside in the freezing cold and darkness waiting five and sometimes ten minutes to run.

Yeah, that's really the best part about the newer watches.
