Stupid people deserve the internet.
What he seems to have done is repugnant in many ways, and I agree that he deserves to be called out, but I feel bad for his family. The children don't deserve all the shame and mockery attached to their name. And probably the wife doesn't either.

I do feel bad for his wife and kids, who do not deserve any of this.
Apart from being an egomaniac and shameless self-promoter (understandable in his line of business), he's made two bad decisions:
1) Cheated to get into Boston;
2) Publicized the principal's letter for even further self-promotion.
Does the punishment fit the crime? I think it does. Unfortunately, his family is collateral damage.
