Tired Tuesday Penguins (Read 11 times)

Penguin Power!

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

    Upcoming Races: Run as One 4M (4/24) * Japan Run 4M (5/8) * Brooklyn Half (5/21)

    Penguin Power!

      Hello there ladies and gents!

Baby is 3 months old (tomorrow) and I'm trying to get back into running. I've been doing couch to 5k on the treadmill but I've been stuck on week 2 for a couple of weeks. It is hard to get the baby to cooperate for 30 minutes while I'm on the treadmill so it has slowed progress. I can't wait until she's 6 months old and I'm allowed to run with her in the jogging stroller. I think I'm going to register for a local 5k to encourage me to train more consistently.

How has everyone been doing? I saw that docket went sub 5 at Chicago Smile congrats!!!

      Former Bad Ass

Morning!  I have Pilates and if my calves don't auto destroy themselves, I'll run 3.

Jill, hi!!! Glad you checked in and awww, it's been 3 months already?  Little by little you'll get back on the running.  And thanks! Smile

Hi Jill. Welcome back. It's good that you have a TM, so you can take advantage of her naps - though you probably want to nap too when she is quiet. Try slowing down, to get past week two. It will take a while to get back to your former speed. As someone who has had to start over several times, I know how frustrating it is, but it does get better soon. Do you have a jogging stroller yet?

D - sorry the calves are still hurting. Cramps or just tightness?  Good luck with your 3.

AFM:  Warm and humid here, but cloudy, so my afternoon run shouldn't be too bad. The next couple of days are supposed to be cooler, which will be very welcome.

Tightness.  Lots of it.  Good luck with the run!

              Singer who runs a smidge

Sorry, the hair got in my way!!

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

                Jill.

Yep the treadmill is nice. She usually plays on her playmat next to the treadmill while I run. She isn't a great napper but she's great at independent play for a 3 month old. I have a bob stroller ready to go for when she's old enough Smile the problem with getting past week two is just consistency. I'll do a couple days in a row and then have a night where I get like 4 hours of sleep and then I wind up not running for several days. I ran today and felt fine. Maybe I should just go for the week 3 workout tomorrow.

I have straight fine hair. It will not hold a curl, so I stopped trying years ago.

I ended up with 5.9 muggy miles.
