Former Bad Ass
That sounds complicated, Baboon.

Finally getting around to researching what I need to do for Ironman fueling. "They" say nutrition is the 4th discipline, and getting it wrong can destroy your day. It was so easy with marathons...a gel every 40 minutes or so, a handheld containing carbs, grab a cup of water at each station. Now I need to know how many calories, carbs, and sodium I'll need per hour, how much water I need per hour based on my sweat test readings (ongoing for several weeks now), and I need to find a hydration mix with the right carbs/sodium balance that contains no fructose (see "delicate flower" moniker). I've ruled out Gatorade, Gu, Hammer Nutrition, Skratch, Nuun, Clif. Looks like Ucan may work but I hear it tastes awful. I may give it a try though. From there I think I'm looking at custom blends. And that, my friends, is a cool story bro.
Ugh. That is a lot of work. I don't even like to deal with water, so I generally don't unless it's 18+.
This is something I know the ultra-types have to deal with too. No thanks.

I'm doing an all liquid diet during the race. Using all hammer Gels would actually work, but that'd require about 30 gels for the duration of the race. Then I'd need to supplement with sodium tablets.

Powerade? And dizam. lol
Powerade?
And dizam. lol
Contains fructose. I actually really like the taste of Powerade and it's fine for just drinking. I've used it during bike rides though and it acts as human Drano.

Finicky tummy?
That is why Wife call me a delicate flower.
So, here are the YTD totals, in case anyone's wondering.

Man, January and February are making me so far behind...
Some nice miles here. Good work, people. I've traded a crapload of miles for more speed. While I don't like seeing the low number, I can't argue with race results.
Would you rather win the bf mileage contest or win races? lol

I'm behind you D, damn marathon taper and two week recovery

I move up a couple spots based on time spent running. Clearly much slower than many.....
I've lowered my goal and have apologized to my team on a number of occasions. Fortunately I haven't cost us any wins yet.
run less run faster
I know a few pure runners who have tried this and they all end up injured.
