Apple Pie Wednesday Penguins (Read 18 times)

PADRunner

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

Morning penguins! RD for me today I think. Last nights WO was brutal.

      on my way to badass

Good morning PAD an Penguins to come!

        Enjoy your rest PAD.

I may run on the TM later today.  Its really windy out.

Still waiting for the perfect race picture. 5K PR-33:52 , 10K PR 1:11:16, First HM 2:42:28

        Penguin Power!

Morning Pens!  It is finally cooler outside today so I'll try to do any easy 4 outside later.  They updated the forecast for sat from like 71 and light rain to 82 and no rain.  =/  I think this is going to be a hot race -- and I'm not good at hot weather running!

          Upcoming Races: Run as One 4M (4/24) * Japan Run 4M (5/8) * Brooklyn Half (5/21)

          From the Internet.

Morning! 4.1 easy miles done. I feel like I have so much extra time on my hands this week!

            Barking Mad To Run

Plan on doing a group run after work with some retired veteran friends.  However, may be delayed, as I might have to take my cat to the vet. As much as I hate the fact, it's probably time to let my 15-year old cat go. She's been doing well for her age, but is now at the point of not eating, etc.. Think she's telling me it's time. Gail and I have had this rescued cat for just about her whole life - got her in 2000 when she was about 6 months old, hard to let her go, but don't want to have her suffering.

                Good morning Penguins!

Lauren that's because you do. Big grin

                PAD enjoy the rest.

SF, I hope you get a good TM run in.

Scotty, sorry about the kitty. I know how hard it is to let furry friends go. Sad

Jill, uh-oh on the heat. Fingers crossed that they'll change the forecast again!

I want to start adding a medium-long run to the middle of the week. So my plan for today is 8-9.

RD with some sight seeing thrown in. I'm sure it will be a lot of walking.

                    Return To Racing

Good Morning Pens.  We will try for 5 this afternoon.  That would be a long short run.

                        Hugs for Scotty and Gail.

Sapf- Hopefully your race gets started early, and it won't heat up until later?

I signed up for that marathon last night.  Last year I think there were like 35 runners or something. Smile  It will be me and the iris fields.  I'll probably hate irises by the end.

If we were closer we would run that with you for fun. Marathons are painful and torturous, but when it's we look back and say "That was fun!" DW is already looking for another one.

Scotty - I'm sorry about the sick kitty.  That is the hardest part of having a pet:  they never live long enough.

PAD - enjoy the well earned rest.  I take it you did speed work with the club last night?

Stonefence - we had the wind yesterday. Makes it very hard if you have allergies, but it felt nice.

sapf - we got the cool front too.  Yesterday was 84, today is only supposed to get to 67.  I hope some of the cool air hangs around for your race.

Lauren - It does feel weird to have the extra time during taper. I used some of the energy and extra time to deep clean the house.

Brilliant - when is your next race?

Mitch - are you on vacation?  Where?

D - I didn't think you took total rest days.  Enjoy.

Jerry enjoy your LSR.  Five is a nice distance.

Z - I thought our races were small.  Enjoy your LR through the iris.

Jack - How are your legs behaving post-marathon?

AFM:  I'm supposed to do 4 today, but may stretch it to 5 or 6.  We have a nice cool front for the next three days and I want to take advantage of it.

                            Brilliant

                              Zel - you go girl!

D and Mitch - enjoy the rest.

Jerry, have a nice medium-ish run.

                              Jack - hi!

Ginny, have a nice run.  My next race is July 4, a 5k.  After that, HM on August 23.

                              8.9 done.

                              Jack K.

Ginny: My legs are great and feel fine. I actually feel like I can go out and run another marathon at an easy pace. It's my knee that is bothering me. I have a referral to the sports doc so I hope to get in to see him soon.  In the meantime, I am not running but I am keeping up with my core work.

                                Brill: "Hi" back. Smile
