The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)
5.4 for my birthday this morning
Penguin Power!
Happy birthday!
Today I'll do a streak run and some yoga. I'll also take citibike to/from chinese class which is 5 miles each way. Tomorrow I'm meeting a lady from the internets to do my long run. Hopefully she's less of a weirdo than I am ;-)
Upcoming Races: Run as One 4M (4/24) * Japan Run 4M (5/8) * Brooklyn Half (5/21)

Return To Racing
Happy BDay, PAD.
Hope your internet RP isn't too weird, sapf.
Enjoy your RD, D?
We might be able to get LR in since it cooled off. Of course by the time DW wakes up, it will be too hot.
Good morning Penguins!
Happy Birthday PAD!!
Jill, sounds like an active day. I tried riding my bike to a dr's appointment once. I was drenched in sweat when I arrived. It was so embarrassing. (I didn't think it was that hot outside, but I it was a sunny and hilly route). Anyway I learned my lesson. Bike riding for recreation only.
Jerry, I hope you get the LR done.
Damaris, have a great RD!
AFM - no running; my legs need a day off. But I'll go to core class later and work on the abs.
Singer who runs a smidge
Morning, Penguins!! I am SOOO glad it's Friday, and even gladder it's a long weekend. My past two Saturdays have been busy and crazy, so I'm really looking forward to a double opportunity to sleep in and chill. So that's what's on our agenda, plus bike practice (working on turning, still), possibly taking dinner up to a friend whose mom just had knee replacement surgery (depends on if she's out of the hospital yet), and possibly running. Actually, now that sounds like another busy weekend!PAD -- happy birthday, and woo-hoo for your 5.4!!sapf -- sounds like a great day planned, have fun!!Docket -- woo-hoo for your RD!!Jerryb -- hope it's still cool for your LR!!Brilliant -- I'm considering, once I actually learn to ride, biking to and from the doctor and dentist. Since my appointments for them tend to be fall and winter, I don't think sweaty will be an issue! Enjoy the core work!!
When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run. The only thing that matters is how we have loved.
8 for us. It was more humid than I thought, but the sun came out the last couple of miles, and it seemed cooler as the humidity dropped.
Enjoy the sleepy weekend HsM.
Have a good ab/core class Bri.
Now we will go out for a nice alfresco lunch somewhere.
RD with lots of napping. I got a good report on my colonoscopy. Hopefully I can run a few in the morning.
Good news. Pictures ???
Jerry, the doctor told my wife it was one of the best colonoscopies I've had. Haha, he took pictures!!
My husband showed me his pictures.

Should we expect a new avatar?
Happy birthday, PAD!
I'm headed home for either yoga or k-bell DVD and bed early for a LR tomorrow!
