Is it really Monday Penguins? (Read 14 times)

GinnyinPA

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges."  And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

I'm used to HMs being on Saturday, so today feels like it should be Sunday, not Monday.  Confusing.

I have no idea what I'm doing today. It looks stormy outside, so I may do some xt in the basement. I'm pretty stiff, even though I didn't run especially hard yesterday,. so an easy recovery run might be better.  I'll figure it out later.

PR at Grand Rspids.  Stuck to run/walking from start to finish and it worked.  2:14:32.  Flat, fast, chilly, and no pit stops helped as well.  On our way home.

Hsve a good recovery run,Ginny.  I need a brewery recovery day.

Your beers looked a lot better than my Yuengling Light, but at the time, even that tasted great.

Congrats! What was your running pace and ratio?

            Return To Racing

We were running about 9:30 and walk for about 15-30 seconds every 0.5 miles.  Don't know the ratio is.  Sometimes we coordinate with aid stations or any small inclines. Last week's race we didn't take the early breaks and I was really struggling the last few miles.  Yesterday we took breaks from the start and felt good to the end.

5 miles.  I felt like a lumbering old man out there.  The worst part was knowing the math works.
