The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)
When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run. The only thing that matters is how we have loved.
My mother always has us put up the tree the Saturday after Thanksgiving. It's the only time we're all there to do it! We don't decorate much ourselves, since we're rushing around all December, we're not there for Christmas, and three cats make it a pain to put up a Christmas tree. We did buy some plastic big ornaments last year after Christmas, though, and I'm going to decorate one of the pine trees along the driveway. DH will put up lights, and we'll have an outdoor tree!
Quartet rehearsal was good last night, although sniffly, and very pea soup-y driving home. Other quartet rehearsal is tonight!
Morning, HsM! We haven't decorated this year and I don't know how much we will. The kiddo will probably guilt us into it at some point.

Jerry - I like that idea. Much better than leaving them stuffed in a drawer.
I usually put up decorations the second week of December. I love Christmas decorations. Jim has suggested not doing it this year, because he wants to head south around New Years but I still want the tree and lights. I'd also rather wait to go south until I've gotten sick of the cold and gray here. It has been so mild this fall/winter I am not yet feeling the need for sunshine.
HM - I hope tonight's rehearsal went well.
I did 6 on the TM, thanks to all day rain here.
