Dorky Wednesday Penguins! (Read 8 times)

Singer who runs a smidge

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges."  And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

It's Dress Like A Dork Day!!  Since I am a dork, I guess I dress like a dork every day.  Today's run was a little more dorky, though -- I ordered a new sweatshirt for these lovely cool mornings, and it arrived yesterday, so I tried it out this morning.  Unfortunately, I picked a nifty color (mulberry) without considering that the majority of my running tops are purple/fuschia.  The clash was pretty hideous.  Still, it's dark at 5:30 AM, so who cares?

Also, it was too warm for the sweatshirt.  It's now been baptized in sweat.

HM - I think it would have to be down to freezing before I'd wear a sweatshirt to run, though that 30-40 degree zone is iffy since wind makes such a difference.

I'm thinking about doing a short trail run today.  It will be cooler in the hills and the autumn color should be nice. We've got rain forecast for the next couple of days.

When I do my streak runs that are just 1 mile, I usually just change shoes and go in whatever I'm wearing.  But the other night, I was wearing all black, and it was dark, so I put on my reflective jacket.  But my blouse hung down behind that.  It looked so silly.

Also, I just ordered another pair of Altras, since they were on clearance and I have another pair that is ready to retire.  Those are dorky looking!

My strength workout went well last night, but it was hard.  I always wonder if it should feel that hard, and wish it wasn't that hard to run at that pace, but there it is.

Tonight I either have my 1 mile streak run or Friday's 5 miler.

Ginny, hope you get out to the trails before the rain!

Morning!  I had my business suit on for court, but not sure if it was dorky enough.  I have Pilates and 7.
