We typically just get a nice dinner. Since this year was 20, we took a vacation (Niagara Falls). Decided it was too hot to go to Vegas, where we got married.

Both tracks I go to have POP's most of the year, but they get taken away during the winter. During those months, as long the tracks are not covered in snow, I need to make sure I am "good to go" before heading to the track. The rail trail parallels the main road in town, so lots of business that I can pop into if I need to take care of business myself while running on the trail.

For those mentioning woods by the high school tracks, just make sure any security cameras aren't aimed that way. And never use the field.
They're pretty good where I live, but it's pretty much like this when running in the city. There's a park with a permanent bathroom building that used to be a regular stop when I ran from work; I think if polling my running group it's considered to be consistently in the worst condition of any in the city. There are two stalls (no doors); I went in one time and there was a guy sleeping stretched across the entrance of both. I could've stepped over him, but...I used the women's instead.
In public bathrooms, I've seen the wide range of people passed out, bathing in the sink, washing clothes in the sinks, fighting with each other, injecting things, smoking things, having sex... As a non-coffee drinker, I'm thankful that stopping at a bathroom during a run is a rarity, not normal routine. In the past year, it's maybe happened 2-3 times during long runs.

FTR, nothing to do with being a coffee drinker. Physiologically, either you are a person that will need to make stops, or you're not. Definitely something to be thankful for if you're not. I have to ensure there is an option on every single run, regardless of distance.

And oh, World Series game 1 tonight! Speaking of being thankful - west coast time FTW! No idea who will win, but I am looking forward to a competitive series - should be fun, even though both teams are full of no-names.
First, knocking on wood, but I find running in the morning, even being less than an hour after drinking coffee, I don't have bathroom issues. I stop coffee before noon. I have way more bathroom visits running after work. Apparently a high fiber lunch plus an apple aren't compatible with running.
ETA, the coffee does work its magic in the mornings. DH has a friend whose diet sucks (think nothing green). He told him to drink coffee since it works quickly for me (thanks dear for sharing).

Hmm, I wonder if there are two different discussions going on about coffee. I tend to need to stop more often than many on long runs to pee and drinking tea in the morning definitely makes that worse, so on that front I have to disagree about caffeine not playing a role. If the issue is bowel-related, then I have nothing to add as I've not noticed any impact in that area from my tea drinking. What fun stuff we runners talk about.
(My comment about the PoPs often running out of TP was in the context of information for the ladies on this board for whom that could be more relevant.)
5k 23:48.45 (3/22); 4M 31:26 (2/22); 5M 38:55 (11/23); 10k 49:24 (10/22); 10M 1:29:33 (2/24); Half 1:48:32 (10/22); Marathon 4:29:58 (11/23)Upcoming races: Running is Back 10k, 5/12; Greta's Run 5k, 5/19
I wish the only issue in some of the POPs was no tp (I carry some folded up paper towels, for that, nose bleeds, falls, whatever).
Are we there, yet?
The closest track to me that isn't fenced and locked is 30-35 minutes away and no PoPs. My other choices are two parks less than 10 minutes away that have regular heated restrooms. Both also have loops that, though not a standard length, at least let me easily have a defined distance for running intervals using Garmin for an approximate measurement. I figure after getting several hundred measurements of the loops, the average should be reasonably accurate.
2024 Races:
03/09 - Livingston Oval Ultra 6-Hour, 22.88 miles
05/11 - D3 50K 05/25 - What the Duck 12-Hour
06/17 - 6 Days in the Dome 12-Hour.
I always run with a sandwich bag with paper napkins in it as the bear-in-the-woods thing is fairly common for me.

I had leg pain the whole day and the walk at lunch (I had to go to the post office) left me achy. PT exercises done cured that for at least 20 minutes. I wasn't going to run but since this type of injury can hurt whether you sit, stand, lie, or run, I ran 3. It was the best 3 I've had in weeks. I did PT exercises before and after. And Ibuprofen which I forgot to bring with me today.
