I wrote this in January:
I don't have but 3:
Sub 23:00 5k in Sept
sub 1:46:00 half in Oct
Go into 2018 fit as fuck and getting solid training in for a Feb marathon.
Ha
Haha
Hahaha
Now, if my goal had been to barely run and spend $1500 on a bike...
Runner with a riding problem.
Are we there, yet?
For once I had a moment of sanity and did not post goals in January.

What is a "goal"?...
chasing the impossible
because i never shut up ... i blog
It's kind of like that thing you are chasing in your signature line
Oh... you mean choosing something that seems impossible and then trying to find out whether it really is.(That's actually left over from 2015.)

Midway through the year and I'm an 0 for 4. I think these are still in striking distance though and I'll be racing all of these distances before the end of the year.

- Sub 40 10K - Sub 1:30 half I'm going on a European vacation this summer again (Italy is in the plans) and dunno how much I'll run there. If I barely run in my vacation, I will not race in Fall 2017 probably. In 2018 I'll probably take a shot at marathoning again.

50% done (Sub 1:30 half), 50% to go this fall (Sub 40 10k)
From the Internet.
Be smart. Don't get hurt. BQ at Sugarloaf on May 21 Fall goals are intentionally vague right now but PRs will happen if I don't get hurt - decisions regarding distances will be made following my spring training cycle and race. I'm starting off with a MUCH better base (~50 mpw average for 7 solid months, versus ~27 mpw average for the 5 months before last year's Baystate cycle) and will be peaking around 70 for Sugarloaf if all goes well, so I expect goals that seem stupid right now might end up not being stupid come the fall racing season just for sheer mileage reasons.
Ugh. I'm too fat to hope for big PRs right now. My last two races were garbage due to warm weather and I feel like they really shouldn't have been that hard/that far off of last fall's PRs so that's left me wondering if weight is a factor. My workouts have been OK but I'm not feeling fast at all right now. If I can get back under 22 for 5K a couple times I'll call it good and go back to the marathon.
I identify with this way too much

Well close on the first two (a 7th in the 5K and a 6th in the 10K) but I did better in the 1500 with a 7th.
And I ran again today, so there's that.

Goals for 2017 Log 1650 running, 1000 cycling miles. Swim as I can Moving in steps towards a 3:30 marathon (in Spring 2018), the check marks I want to hit are: 21 min 5K in the Spring; and then a sub 1:35 half in the Fall (probably the Silver Comet half again, that course suits me). Lose a further 15lbs by goal HM day.

Not sub 21 yet, but I have a race Saturday where I am in with a good shot at doing so.
Weight loss is going well now after some not so good movement initially.
And yes Silver Comet half is my goal race (With the fall back of Chickamauga if needed)

I'm ahead of my mileage goals and feeling good, if I can stay healthy, it should be a PR mileage year.
I haven't hit any of these goals yet, but didn't expect to during the summer. I did however run a new 5k PR on the 4th of July, 18:10, so I feel pretty confident that I'll go sub-18 in cooler weather. I'm running the Charlotte Marathon in November, if all goes well I should be pretty solid for sub-3. Don't know when/if I'll get a good half on the schedule tho, but we'll see.
