I do not take gels in a half. I don't necessarily take any water for that matter. (And mine are quite a bit more than 90 minutes, FWIW.) But I would not constitute anything I say as "advice".

I take water from at least 4 of the 6 stops during a half marathon, whether I need it or not never enters the equation. For me, it's just smart to do it.
There are people who take no fluids during a marathon but those people can get away with it. Ultimately, we each have to find our own happy.
So any of you guys really nervous? Excited? Scared? Optimistic? Pessimistic? What is going on in your crazy runner's brain?
PRs: Boston Marathon, 3:27, April 15th 2013
Cornwall Half-Marathon, 1:35, April 27th 2013
18 marathons, 18 BQs since 2010
I sometimes take a cup of water if I think it will improve my mood.
I guess it depends on weather conditions. I did two straight with no water, and felt I needed none; temps were pretty cool for both. (LRB: remember the 2013 Martian? 30's, windy, and freezing rain.) The last one I did it was kind of warm. I was suffering a bit, and thought it might help. I think I tried taking a cup twice, but probably didn't get more than a few drops in me. I guess I don't have enough practice drinking water at HMP.

5.6 miles with 3 miles sort of progression/tempo. And I wore a tank top
I've raced a half marathon, a 5k, a mile and a 10k this year and completely stunk up the joint like an elephant sized skunk barbecuing over a bed of Limburger cheese infused coals with mothball tenderizer on the meat. What do you think is in my mind? lol

Relax, you'll do great.

Does that crystal ball show you lolly gagging, or actually racing your 5k Sunday?
I'm running with my SO. I'll run at whatever pace he wants to do. I have no idea what this will be.
Are we there, yet?

They say a little stress is healthy for athletes. Don't worry, you're now an expert at those things. Plus, you will be surrounded with friends. You"ll have a great time, I'm sure. What will the weather be like?
That looks like one of my runs. You mocking me?
