Yeah .... Cuz no way in Fing hell can I run up to 20min at 30+ seconds faster than I can race a 5k...
I though Daniels was 3 miles or 20 minutes, whichever came first? So you probably wouldn't need the 20 minutes? I used the Daniel's red plan, but really felt I was not his target audience for plans. For me, the 20 minutes only got me 2 miles and change.

The way I read it was that 20 minutes is the minimum. So when your tempo pace gets to the point where 3 miles takes less than 20 minutes, you keep going until you reach 20 minutes. Incidentally, this is one of the few instances where 4 and 5 mile steady state tempo runs are prescribed using Daniels tempo pace.

Are you running that 50 miles all or once or split up over a week?
??? It's a 50 mile race, so all at once....

Former Bad Ass
My 6 were bad. With the chest congested and the nose congested every 2 miles, I left a lot of snot rockets on the way back home. Couldn't breathe well but I remember this is not even as bad as I was last year and I don't feel that bad anymore.

8 mile tempo run done! 6 @ 7:30 which felt about right. Anything much faster would have been tough and 7:06 was out of the question. Time for a cold one. I have to replenish those carbs, you know?

The sooner the better.
Tomorrow is the second to last 5k that was on my season schedule. Unfortunately I will not be there, making it the millionth DNS I've taken this year. It's a shame too because at 44 degrees, the weather will be wonderful....FFS.
Excellent point. I will have one now before my shower. Thanks for the tip, LRB!

which may be all fine and good for some - however when your 5k (3 mile) PR is significantly faster than 20 - then you simply can't run 3 miles (5k) at a 30 per mile faster pace than you already can.
ie: Daniels 2nd Edition 'T' pace explanation does not compute for me.
As it is when I am tired or just having a bad day I am racing that 5k at T pace!
