Fear is a Liar
The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here.
Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the caommon benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges."
It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)v
I'm so vegetarian I don't even eat animal crackers!
Good Morning Penguins!
Hope everyone is having a good day digesting yesterday's feast!
Planning on about 6 miles some time today.

Good morning Gustav and Dan.
3.4 frosty miles done. Heading out shortly to get a Christmas tree.
Running for TJ because he can't.
on my way to badass
Gustav- Have a great run.
Dan- enjoy your family time!
Robert- have fun on the tree hunt.
I've had 2 days off. Wednesday I did house work (Xtraining) and Thursday we were traveling and eating. I managed to not over-do on food, although I may have had a little too much wine before dinner(my tolerance is way down these days). Feeling good this morning and I want to take a run around my old neighborhood. It's a 3.8 mile route. It's cold today (high of 30F) but no wind. We've got another dinner tonight with DH's family. Chicken Parm instead of turkey. Travel tomorrow.
Still waiting for the perfect race picture. 5K PR-33:52 , 10K PR 1:11:16, First HM 2:42:28

Return To Racing
'Morning !!! 3-5m when DW gets back from shopping. Hopefully it will warm up to 30.
From the Internet.
Happy Friday pens! I'm at work, but only for a few hours and no one else is here to bother me. Heading to the gym soon.
Hi everyone, I'm working again today, then will be off Sat and Sun. I will do 6-7 tonight, then get to do the LR with my group that I've missed the last 7 Sat's due to work and stuff. Tomorrow's LR will be 16+, and I hope that will give me my highest mileage week ever! It should be 50 or just a little less.
Bin, is Sun you marathon? Does it have tracking? I like your goals, I think mine will be similar, except add 15-20 minutes.
Dan, it really is a nice thing to spend time with family, don't sweat it not being able to run.
Lauren, do you have a gym at work?
Robert, keep that streak going!

Hi Pens.
Bin: Start carb loading NOW!! You will do great.
Jerry: "Warm up to 30." LMAO!
Hog: Make sure you hit 50 miles. If you are like me you won't forgive yourself if you get 49.6.
Hi everyone.
Five miles and some strides are done. DW are going out to shop... not Black Friday shop, groceries and stuff. We do most of our "shopping" online these days.

ugh@ my computer. It was messing up, and I ended up getting rid of my whole message before I hit send. So frustrating.
Hi Gus, Dan and Stone!
Robert-- hope you find a nice tree. Its so fun Christmas tree shopping.
Bin-- you're doing great! Glad you don't seem to be having any taper madness. LOL@ finishing upright. I have a lot of faith in you, I know you'll do great!
Jerry-- don't get too warm out there! ;-)
Hi ya Lauren and Jack!
Mitch-- whew-- I'm so glad you're getting the weekend off. Enjoy getting to focus on your running with your running friends!
Docket-- have a safe trip. Good luck to you and hubby both this weekend!
Today, I did 4 easy miles.
Yesterday got in 8 miles and had a lovely Thanksgiving with good friends. In fact my former running partner (now a cyclist) did most of the cooking, so we had several healthy choices for dinner.
Now I'm waiting on my best friend from Phoenix to call. We'd planned on doing the "True Rest Float Spa" this weekend because she'd been under enormous stress and I was tapering for my marathon. However, her mother, who has terminal liver cancer, turned for the worse this week. She went into the hospital and has been in and out of a coma for the last few days. I'm waiting to find out if my friend still wants me to come up to Phoenix and be with her or would rather I say home. I just feel soooo terrible for their whole family.

Mitch - almost, I use the university's fitness center, it's just under a quarter mile from my building. Super convenient, but makes it too easy to prioritize gym time over stuff I don't feel like doing at work
Cherie, so sad about your friend's mother
Sorry about your friend's mother, Cherie. Hope she is doing better today.
