HM, 10 miles. It's the first of a distance series to prep for the Shamrock marathon in March. This year they switched from KMs to miles, so it's 10/15/20 milers for the long series.

Is this the VA Beach Shamrock? If I recall, you're in VA too, right?
When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run. The only thing that matters is how we have loved.
Yup, and yup. I'm in Chesapeake.

Look at that speedster race. I am going to have to talk my wife into a trip to South Texas. I was trying for Spring Break this year, but she doesn't want to go. Yes, it was nice to see one of those overrated teams from the SEC go down. Too bad Oklahoma had to be on the winning end though. Of course you know why Texas doesn't fall into the Gulf of Mexico.
Personal Bests:
800M - 2:38 (5/28/13) | 1 Mile -5:54 (5/28/13) | 3K - 11:55 (12/29/12) | 2M - 13:00 (12/1/12) | 5K - 20:00 (4/12/13) | 13.1M - 1:37:24 (2/3/13)

Happy Friday Penguins! I'm a little bummed after my Crimson Tide's dismal performance last night, but what can ya do right?
Hog4Life: You're braver than me to get out in that cold. I'm a big wuss when it comes to cold despite growing up in Chicago. Go figure. Never again. If anything I would move further South Have you thought more about doing the Mercedes HM in Feb? So far I'm on track to slog my way through it
Hey everybody. Good luck on the race D2. And great pics, Scotty!
I'm taking another rest day today. My knee feels better but my shin is still bothering me. Calling to make a doctor's appointment during my lunch break today. I'm in a January 50 mile challenge and I hope a little rest will do the trick and I can get back to it.

I haven't registered yet, but am still trying to decide. My running has really been bad since the full .

Now get this: we participants got a message from the RD saying to dress appropriately 'for the cold' for my 4-mile race tomorrow morning. The race starts at 8 a.m. and the temp at that time, per our weather forecasters, will be 46 degrees with a 'feels like' temp of 41. Dress for the cold indeed! Of course, for we South Texans, that IS cold for us, lol.
Well, at least you get off early on Friday, Jimmy. Glad you felt no pain on your run/walk, that is always a good sign.
Enjoy the rest day, Dave, and hope the wind behaves itself soon.
Congrats on the 5, PAD.
Happy Chinese New Year coming soon, Bin. Year of the Horse, right? I was born in a Year Of The Horse. I'm so old it was the very FIRST year of the horse.
Good luck with the 6, Damaris. And with the kitties.
OK, Jerry, I give..what's the "HC"? Enjoy your busy day! I saw on the Weather Channel, Chicago, among other cities, is getting whacked by the storm they are calling Hercules.
Glad your weather is somewhat better, HsM. I dunno...go to work or go to dentist....tough choice!
Very sorry to hear about your friend's wife, Mitch, wishing her and family all the best. Wow, that is SOME weather for Alabama!
Dang, Lew, you got quite a work-out there! However, I'm sure those older single women will reward you with cookies, cakes, baked goods, etc., right?
Mine, too, Dan is a 'sit all day" work situation. I set my computer timer to DING every hour, to remind me to get up and move around and stretch for about 5 minutes or so.

I wonder if I took my multivitamin this morning?
No way to know ... I really wasn't awake.
After my shower, I sort of forgot to put on underwear -- had to de-pants and remedy that situation.
Maybe I'm getting senile ...

Yep...because Oklahoma Sucks and Arkansas and Kansas Blows... Yeah, I'm not a fan of either Oklahoma or Alabama..but Oklahoma is the lesser of 2 evils for me...so I rooted for them. Great game with a very nice outcome!
Good luck with your training for the HM, SO42. Sorry your team lost...wait...no I'm not...
obiebyke, hope you get some good news from the doc! Good luck!

Maybe you're just getting 'risque" heading toward your upcoming golden years.
It is really amazing how much you can "get away with" when you're older, lol, as I've learned heading toward 60 years old; Me and my friends, Bill (77 years old) and Luke (80) and all our other 'old dog' pals these days are 'those cute old man" to the younger ladies in our running circles, lol. Yeah, now we are just 'cute'. 20 years ago we would have been slapped a lot, probably. Well, we have fun, and keep our sense of humor about it all and keep the ladies amused. I guess aging does have some advantages, lol. Bill is the guy with me in one of the photos I posted today here. He really does have a way with the ladies, lol, and has a 45-year old girlfriend from Italy. I wanna be like him when I grow up.
Morning! Got to get back home today, then going to try my first tempo run of the new cycle. Legs have been very heavy lately, so I guess today's run will help me figure out how much of that is really just in my head.
D2- I've only raced one 10 miler before, but to me it felt more like a 10K than like a HM, if that makes sense. For whatever reason the distance was short enough that I didn't have to reign it in as much as with a HM, I just sort of went for it and the distance didn't really catch up with me. But then again, I haven't figured out how to properly race a 10K, so maybe I'm not the best person to give advice. But good luck, regardless!

I don't think Gail is going to let you have a 45-year old girlfriend from Italy ...

Hi everyone, working from home today. With the snow, I would've spent 3 hours commuting round trip, and that's just silly when I can boot up my laptop here.
I have adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder) again -- this time in my right shoulder. One year ago I couldn't move my left arm, and it took 4 months of PT and another couple months on my own to get the ROM back. This time I sought help earlier, and from a chiropractor instead of an M.D. This chiro group works with athletes and incorporate ART and Graston techniques -- the doc I saw this morning thinks he can get me loosened up much faster than what I did last year. I hope so. I'm pretty sore after today's session, but I did gain some range of motion.
Spin class at the gym this afternoon.
