Friday Penguins, whoop whoop!! (Read 19 times)

Singer who runs a smidge

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

Cause Fridays need a whoop whoop!!  I have a surprisingly long to-do list, although it has several things on it that take less than five minutes.  Hoping I get it all done!  And yes, a walk is on my list.  Watching the Sweet Adelines International webcast is NOT on my list, but I bet it happens anyway!

Anybody doing grand stuff for the weekend?  Our chorus is having a potluck/costume party on the 29th, so I'm hoping to run around and get stuff for my costume tomorrow.  I need an eyepatch, a party hat, and some elastic to repair a pair of wings.  Then all I'll need will be a gingerbread man with the leg bitten off -- I'll wear a purple shirt and skirt and be a one-eyed, one-horned, flying purple people eater.

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

      Jill.

HsM - I love your costume idea.

I am not doing anything exciting this weekend.  I'm scheduled to do my 20 miler, but I may push it to early next week.  My rest day yesterday helped me feel a little less bad, I think I'm going to take another one today and do a couple of easy runs over the weekend.  I don't have any students on Tuesday so I think that's the day I'll tackle my last long run.

        Upcoming Races: Run as One 4M (4/24) * Japan Run 4M (5/8) * Brooklyn Half (5/21)

Just an easy 4 for me tonight.  Happy Fridayd

AFM:  probably a rest day, though I may do a few miles before heading to the Gathering to register for the weekend.

              Return To Racing

4.5 in an old Worcester Park.  Niece wedding is tonight.  Won't be fancy and it might be raining for zn outdoor ceremony.  Our girls flew in yesterday, so we are all together. Thank goodness for Waze navigating us around here.

Fridays are our only jeans day.

                  Singer who runs a smidge

Every day is jeans day for me.  And yesterday I told DH, "Humans were not meant to wear shoes all day."  Too bad I can't go barefoot at the lab!

Jealous! We don't get to wear jeans here, but I do rotate Converse with my dressy flats

Was so tight and sore that night that my trainer scratched her plans for back/shoulder workout and instead we spent an hour stretching and foam rolling, and then she rolled out my legs with two different rolling sticks. She found knots on the outside of my calves I've been missing (because I've only been rolling underneath) and at the end of the session, she had reduced the swelling of my right hamstring ( that I didn't know I had until she pointed it out) It was AMAZING!

Tonight will be the back/shoulder workout I missed and I'm registering for half marathon #3. I'll be attempting 3 HM's in 90 days for entry into Half Fanatics

                      I can. I will. I am.

I have 10 things finished off my 18-item to-do list for today.  Guess I'm making progress!!  Unfortunately, two of them are on hold at this point..

                        Brilliant

                          Hello Penguins,

Jerry, it's fun to run in new places.  Enjoy your weekend.

HopesMom, that is some good work on the todo list!

Every day is jeans day for me, too.  Except for half of the year it's shorts day.

No running for me today; resting up for the HM on Sunday.  I tried a different class at my studio this morning - I thought it was a normal TRX class, but it was a sort of TRX/Yoga fusion, using the straps for some of the positions. It wasn't too hard; just what I needed today.

Hi!  Took the day off work and just did Pilates, a nice lunch, and laundry.  We leave tomorrow.

6.7 with Bella this morning. I have a 15k in the morning that I plan to just log some miles and have fun, hoping for 16-18 total. Then I taper for Detroit!!!
