Jack's 10K pace thread prompted me to think about this. What are your pace dropoffs at each distance?
5K - 6:00
10K - 6:23
HM - 6:34
Marathon - 7:12
Short term goal: 17:59 5K
Mid term goal: 2:54:59 marathon
Long term goal: To say I've been a runner half my life. (I started running at age 45).
10k - 7:02
10 miles - 7:13
HM - 7:19
Marathon: - 7:54
PRs: Boston Marathon, 3:27, April 15th 2013
Cornwall Half-Marathon, 1:35, April 27th 2013
18 marathons, 18 BQs since 2010
Hehe, I'm too new and mine are all over the place.
5K- 8:22
10 mi.- 8:37
HM- 8:53
I need to run some more races, clearly! Both 5K and HM I think are soft.
Zelanie, your 5K to HM dropoff is 31 seconds and that's fairly close to mine which is 34 seconds.
Hey, great topic. Thanks Jack for hosting our mini-derailment in your thread.
Current (and run within a 7 week period):
5k - 6:01
10k - 6:17
13.1 - 6:31
Out of date (a little over a year period):
5k - 6:09
8k - 6:42
10k - 6:46
13.1 - 6:48
26.2 - 7:06
Yeah, but I've got no business running 5K pace only 15 seconds faster than my 10 mi pace.
1 Mile - 5:27
5K - 6:28
5 Mile - 6:52 (a bit dated)
HM - 7:20
Yeah, perhaps I was a bit optimistic when I said a 15 second dropoff from 5K to 10K sounded about right for me.
2013 goals: 800m: 2:20 | mile: 4:59 | 5k: 18:59 | 10k: 39:59 | HM: 1:32 | Marathon: 3:20

Are you talking PR's? Based on current fitness? I saw that thread and your 10K came at the end of a big marathon training week. It would suggest your 10K pace is faster.
I have really never seriously done 5K specific training. I don't run a lot of them and they always seem to be while training for another goal race. I think I'd like to just to see if I could go lower. Anyway, the stretch from July 2011 to January 2012 gives me this:
5K: 5:44 (warm morning - not ideal. Two months before 10K below)
10K: 5:52 (ideal morning)
HM: 6:12 (3 months after full marathon below)
FM: 6:41 (5 weeks after 10K above)
I think my 10K, HM, and FM show legitimate comparisons as they were within a few months of each other and each was run in similar weather. I'm probably pretty close to those paces today.

You wanna see some fubar'd pacing?.......

Go figure
My paces are funny because I have some soft PRs at most distances other than the marathon:
5K - 5:59
5mi - 5:52
10K - 6:26
Half - 6:31
Marathon - 6:44
Trying to find some more hay to restock the barn
Are we there, yet?
To get that range of distances I have to go all the way back to 1980.
5K - 5:42.5 (only one I ran all year so may not be indicative)
10K - 6:05.8 (had one where my pace was 5:50.0, but the distance is suspect since the time was over 90 seconds faster than my next best)
HM - 6:29.3 (only one I ran that year and a month later ran 10M at 6:12.5 pace)
Mar - 6:44.1
More recently, i.e. 5-6 years ago I had these
5K - 7:22.9 (very flat)
10K - 7:54.4 (very hilly)
10M - 8:18.7 (somewhat hilly)
2024 Races:
03/09 - Livingston Oval Ultra 6-Hour, 22.88 miles
05/11 - D3 50K 05/25 - What the Duck 12-Hour
06/17 - 6 Days in the Dome 12-Hour.
Good topic.
5K- 6:24
10K - 6:57
13.1 - 7:52
26.2 - 8:40
My 5k and 10k times were 6:58 and 7:15 respectively at the beginning of the season. As a result, I expect to see improvement in my half and marathon times by seasons end...a boy can hope anyway. ; )
Former Bad Ass
Mine are all over the place, as the asthma gets worse the longer I attempt to run at X pace. And I have not raced a HM in 2 years and I have no plans to do so. My goal is to make that marathon a 9ish and repeat the 10K feat (which was pre-asthma). That 5K is ready to become a 7ish but since I don't train and my legs are tired from marathoning, I don't see that happening on Monday.
5K - 8:01
10K - 8:16
HM - 9:29
Marathon - 10:27

That's pretty standard dropoff right?! Kidding. Posted my RR on how THAT happened.... 10K I will defeat you one day!!
