    Dang, Oski...that RD sounds like a real piece of work...resorting to name-calling, sheesh...that a-hole!

.  Now, just for example....what if a Wounded Warrior or some person with a disability was there and had been walking up the hill...that volunteer would not have cheered?  Really?   The volunteer person just takes it that everyone who doesn't run the hill is lazy and/or giving up?  Hey, people out there have all kinds of stories and are doing the best they can at the moment with whatever is going on with them.  IMHO, generally speaking the majority of our population does not exercise as much as it should, so anyone who does get out there deserves some credit and support for just even being out there doing SOMETHING.  Jeez, that volunteer sounds like a real piece of work..no empathy, no true "volunteer spirit", which, again, is just my opinion.  Forget him, Oski, and move on...some folks are just like that and  you can talk to him till you're blue in the face, but when it comes down to it, only that person can decide to change the way he is.

    Agreed -

We all do this for our own reasons - as much as I bitch and moan about end of packers that are walking and chatting at least they are out doing something.  And not giving support when someone is doing it in a way you disagree with... well might as not be there.

What gets me riled up is when those that do an event that way complain about course closing, volunteers leaving and lack of food after...

I would publish it too for being such an ass.

I think that is a tough call.  I have read plenty of legitimate complaints that are twisted to make the poster out to be something they are not.  Also plenty of complainers posts have more gravity than they should.

Ugg.. im old... this day and age of easy social media / instant stage protest with little energy required...  ugg...

True.  However, sometimes it's good to speak up (maybe not in their FB but maybe in a group like Marathon Maniacs or other groups.  Some people would like to hear things like this before signing up for a race.

        But I understand her decision.

Run to live; live to run

I didn't think the intervals would happen but I actually hit pace on the first 800 so I continued. Guess I could have gone faster as I didn't feel like it was too hard. Did 1x 800, 1x1600, 4x800 then cool down. 3.1 total. Guess means I need to shoot for faster intervals next time.  I actually planned more but chatty neighbors cut into my time to run.

That's just it.  I could see this going down the path of "The OP should have trained more so she could run the hill, then this wouldn't even be an issue" sort of thing.   Discrediting me personally vs. looking at the response from a race director to a paying participant (who also purchased two t-shirts).

I seriously doubt she would have said half of what she did in her email to my face.

Ha. Yes. I had to modify as apparently I short changed myself by saying 1200 and not 1600. Duh. I was going to do another 1600 but they ate that time up so I cut it out.

Wow, Oski, that blows.  But personally, I think taking the high road is the right thing.  She has a really shitty attitude, but OTOH, it was one comment from one volunteer in one race.  I doubt anything beneficial would come from making it public.

I ran two miles continuous today, at a blistering 10:12 pace.  My back felt stiff and very tired, but it went away shortly after I stopped.  It doesn't hurt otherwise, so I guess I'll just keep plugging until it decides it's ready to play nice.

                        Hey everyone!

I've been nursing a sore posterior tibial tendon for a couple of weeks now, tweaked it when I jumped, wasn't even running. lol  It's not getting worse, but it's also not getting better, so I'm going to take some time off and let it heal so that it doesn't become chronic or get worse.  I'll start with a week off and see how it feels.

Good news tho, I have a phone interview this evening.

The bad thing about living in Dallas is picking a race. Some weekends have over 20 races. I have an approximate date of April 17 - 18 and now I need to find a race. The problem is that I like four races. Two road 5ks that are very flat courses, a 10k trail race, and a 5k trail race. Decisions, decisions.

                          Personal Bests:

                          800M - 2:38 (5/28/13) | 1 Mile -5:54 (5/28/13) | 3K - 11:55 (12/29/12) | 2M - 13:00 (12/1/12) | 5K - 20:00 (4/12/13) | 13.1M - 1:37:24 (2/3/13)

I always say "Good job" or something like it when I pass joggers or walkers in a race who either started early or their race started before mine.  By and large, I think they like the encouragement from faster runners.  I'll say it to people who pass me late in a race too.

And you saw my email - I tried to really make sure I put in that I appreciated all her hard work.  And I've said it to her personally, as well (however, it appears she forgot that she actually does know me... that's how memorable I am I guess lol).

I didn't even need anyone to say good job, I just didn't need someone involved with the race disparaging my effort.

Ok, Ok, I really am going to move on now.
