Tentative Tuesday Penguins (Read 9 times)

Singer who runs a smidge

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges."  And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

Between surgeries and scraped knees and potential icy spots, I think the Penguins are moving a little tentatively today (or not at all)!

      Good luck, Damaris!!

Zel, hope the knee feels better!!

Ginny -- hope you have sun instead of storms!!

PAD -- hope you're somewhat recovered from your 20!!

      Anyone else, good morning!!

AFM, I'm still running samples and pulling chorus stuff together.  Tonight, my second attempt at making a tinfoil hat.

We have about 1/2 inch of snow on the ground at the moment, though it should melt by this afternoon. OTOH, the radar shows another big blue area approaching, so we could get more.  Not sure where I'll end up running today.

DH was running with Dusty a few years back, and Dusty stopped dead in front of him to sniff a garbage can.  I was a little big ahead of them, heard a THUD, and thought, "No, that's not right."  I turned back and DH was on the ground with a nice gash over his eye where his glasses had cut him.  I took Dusty, got DH up, got us back to the house, and it was off to the ER for a few stitches!  I think Dusty was completely unrepentant.

Back home in less than 3 hours, so all was well.  Now resting here watching a movie.  No pain yet.  And I hope no pain later.

Sounds like all is well so far, woo-hoo!!

                Good news, D!

HsM, glad you were there to help out DH.

I think I ran into Mia with my left knee, which is bruised, and then went over the top of her and landed on the gravel trail on my right knee and left palm. Of course I sprang up and tried to get right back to running. The adrenaline might have even given me a faster mile in there.

                  Great news, D!

Dogs have tripped me up while running twice. On asphalt and concrete. Lost skin both times.

We're trying to buy a car. Wish us luck.

D - I hope the pain stays away.

Z - Ouch.  Gravel is not fun to fall on.

Stealth.rnr - good luck with the car.  Do you know what you want?

HopesMom - good luck with the hat.  I hope you'll do pictures when you get your costumes finalized.

AFM:  The sun came out about 3 miles in on my run, so I had a really nice 10.5 miles into town. I met Jim at Denny's and we had a late brunch - blackberry pancakes for me and salted caramel banana pancakes for him.

Stealth- Good luck with the car shopping! What kind?

When the dogs tripped you, were they your dogs at least? I was thinking how much it would suck if my dogs had tripped another person.

Ginny, sounds yummy! I love the idea of running to a destination. I don't do it often but enjoy it when I do.

We got another Rogue. Red. Bright red.I guess it's our version of a little red sports car.

Yeah, they were both my dogs. I'm a little slow, but I finally learned that it's not easy to run with skittish dogs.

I just picked up my new lease as well, except I only drove it here and it's been parked since.  Thursday will be the day.

Hope you love the car! Mia is not really skittish so much as oblivious. It's usually Zoe who threatens to trip me because she is making a point of being obnoxiously good and obnoxiously close to me.
