It's BAAAAACON Thursdailies! (Read 45 times)

8 miles on the treadmill for me - 2.5 mile warmup, 3.5 at roughly GHMP, 2 mile cooldown. Was pleased that I could hold GHMP for the full 3.5 miles no problem, hanging on for the whole 13.1 might be another story.

3.5 at HMP during a training run is a damn hard workout.  None of us ever feel we can hold that pace for a full 13.1 miles.  If you could, that's probably not your HMP.

Blue, I'm sure if you want snow, some of the other folks here will be glad to send you some of theirs!

Hope your Dad is doing better, Basya.

Baboon, surprised you found any CLEAR trail, with your weather there.  Happy training!

You are brave, FreeSoul...I can't do my weight training before I run, have to do mine after I run.  Nice workout and run for you!  Bet Rocky appreciated it, too.  What...he doesn't get to do strength training too?

Congrats on the miles, Dave.  I take it you are all well again.

Dang..what would be a record high for you there, Damaris?  100+ ?

Happy SRD, CPA!  Hunker down and stay warm tonite for our 'cold' coming in for tomorrow and Friday.  I am sure y'all up in North Texas are going to get hit a bit worse than we here in San Antonio.

Good luck with the upcoming miles, onemile!

Good vibes for your 1:50/1:49, Lauren!  Happy training!

Way to kill your workout, Bertha!

OOTB, running by the water sounds so nice!  Enjoy it while you can!

Sorry you are still on the treadmill, WIP.

      Congrats on your miles, B-Plus.

I saw that. You at the Olympics trials?

Lol no! But coached by an Olympian again today  Looks like everyone has been getting in solid workouts the last few days. Kudos to you guys who have to deal with all that snow and ice.

90 minutes of quality time with my treadmill. 20 minutes easy, 2 x 20 minutes @ HM effort with 4 minutes recovery, 20+ minutes easy. Also did a yoga-pilates type workout on the BOSU.

Getting ready to go spend some money at Holabird Sports. Snow days where I am not stuck in the house are great.

Broke out my new Peregrines for some snow running today.  Six mile recovery run done.  It's a double recovery day, might head to the trail by the lake for run #2 later this afternoon.

Hope everyone has a great day!

My longest TM run was 17 miles.    There really is a trick to learning to zone out and not focus so much on how much longer/farther you have to go.    If I had a great place to run outside, I take that in a minute, but I also think there are some real pluses to the TM:

1 -- Nice cushioned deck and no holes, bumps etc. to deal with.   Much easier on the legs.

2 -- No sunscreen running into my eyes or sunglasses fogging up.

3 -- I dont need to be a pack mule.  Water is right there in the cup holder.

4 -- I can watch a football game or movie and get my long run in.

5 -- Bathroom is right there if you need it.

If I didn't have a treadmill, I know I wouldn't run nearly as much as I do, so it's been an extremely worthwhile addition to my house.

If I zone out, I fall off of it. #oldfrailandclumsy

Last week you were near record lows. Don't you just love how quickly the weather changes?

I am just glad we had some nice lows.  Last year, the average temps were 88F.  We are about to hit a record high!

Florida cannot get actual temps that high, Scotty.  It's too humid for that (otherwise, the dewpoint would hit 90 dewpoint and that has never been recorded anywhere).  Record highs for February was 90F last year.  We are at 89F but it was cloudy all morning so we might not hit it.  Record highs in the long Summers are way higher but never above 100F.  The record heat index I have seen here was 107F last Summer, though.  And I had never seen that here, so I am not liking that Summer is already starting.

Did some upper body (push ups, bench press, curls, etc.) but gave lower body a rest today. If I can get that pain in my ass to go away, then I can start building some miles again.
