Wednesday Penguins are meeting (Read 9 times)

Singer who runs a smidge

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges."  And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

Well, I am, anyway.  I have a 10:00 meeting, then this afternoon is a co-worker's retirement party, which I should probably go to.  Tomorrow is a dentist appointment, a faculty meeting, and then I have to bail out of work early for the chorus Installation dinner.  Busy busy!!

I actually woke up this morning instead of hitting snooze 23352342345 times, so hiya!  I ran a super intense 6 last night, with something like 1500 feet of vertical gain and an equal amount of descent.  It was incredibly hard but really fun!  Took 2 hours, and my legs are fried!  So the plan is for recovery miles later.

Zoe had a tooth out and two small growths removed last night, so no running for her for a little bit.  Time to soak her food so that it will be soft enough for her to eat.

Morning!  I have 8 miles with strides tonight.

          HopeMom, enjoy the retirement party.

Z, that sounds like a tough workout!

          Barking Mad To Run

Mother Nature is messing with us down here in Texas.  One week we get mild humidity, nice temps, etc, the next week the temp shoots up.

This week it seems to be warmer.  I did 4 miles of hills last night, starting at 6 PM.  The temp was already about 88 degrees, but the dewpoint was pretty mild and there was a nice breeze blowing, so it was not too bad at all.  This morning I got up and ran in the early a.m. because we are supposed to get some pretty strong thunderstorms after work - when I usually run, but I'd rather not be messing with lightning.  So ran this morning....good grief, like running in a sauna.  Temp was in the low 70s, but the dewpoint was high, the humidity was high, I was totally drenched after I finished.  3.2 miles done.

HopesMom - I hope your meetings and party went well. Good luck at the dentist.

Z - Poor Zoe. I hope she's all right today. That was a hard run you did last night, especially in the dark.

Scotty - we've had changeable weather too, but not that bad. 80 with DP in the 60's over the weekend changed to 60 with DP in the 30s. The cooler weather is supposed to stick around for a bit, which makes me happy.

I had a really nice run in town this afternoon after PT. It was cool (61) and quite windy (15mph), so felt almost cold when I started.  I extended the run to 7.7 miles. I didn't really start sweating until I got into the car afterwards. The only reason I stopped was I hadn't brought water and my knee was hurting.  A hot Epsom salt bath took care of the knee, I think.
