Friday Penguins, it's like herding cats!! (Read 5 times)

Singer who runs a smidge

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges."  And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

Yep, today is Cat Herders Day.

Anyway, so the continuing saga of Dusty.  We put him in the crate last night, and he was instantly panting and fussing.  So DH got his Thundershirt and put it on him.  Didn't help.  So DH grabbed his pillows and a blanket and got down in the floor next to the crate.  At which point I rolled over and fell so soundly asleep that I didn't hear anything else until my alarm went off.  But apparently DH on the floor didn't calm Dusty down much either.  So DH let Dusty loose in the bedroom, shut the bedroom door (so Dusty wouldn't go out and raid the cat boxes), and Dusty calmed right down, plopped down in the floor, and fell totally asleep.  DH crawled back into bed and did the same.  I was oblivious the whole time.  Anyway, it seems to be a very crate-specific anxiety.  DH thinks that the crate has always been a little too small for Dusty, and maybe now that he's getting older, it's getting too hard for him to turn around and be comfortable.  Who knows?  I ordered some calming tablets (herbal concoction), and they should get here tomorrow.  We'll see if they help.  But we're also considering ditching the crate entirely and instead setting up something like toddler fencing, so Dusty is still contained, but has plenty of room to move.

I know y'all are just on pins and needles waiting for the conclusion of this story ...

Woohoo!  Something I do on a daily basis, ha.

I have Orange Theory and 4 miles total for today.  Leaving at noon to hopefully go see Star Wars.

HopesMom, awww poor thing.  Maybe letting him loose more often might help.

HM - a little crate stress is a whole lot better than a sick dog. We kept Ben's crate, but he only goes in there when he isn't feeling well and wants a quiet dark space or when he gets tired of the TV in the living room and wants a quiet nap. At night he sleeps on a dog bed in the bedroom. Since he hasn't been feeling well this week, he's been really restless and I sort of wish he slept in a crate.

D - I hope you enjoy Star Wars. I read a review that wasn't that favorable, but I know not to pay too much attention to reviews.

Rest or xt day for me. I'll probably do some miles on the stationary bike later.
