Just checked on the results. Looks like Stu ran a 2:29. Went through in 1:10 the first half, then the last few miles looked pretty rough, but that seems to happen to most guys in their first marathon.

It's his second one, although the other one was in 1999. He ran 2:37 for that one. Still an 8 minute PR isn't bad. I'll take either of those times. He still ran a faster pace for a full marathon than any of us could probably do (right now) for a half.
Slow by nature, not by choice.

stu is my hero. actually, the pace chart showed that between 30 and 35 kilo he slowed to 6:20 ish pace and kinda held that the remainder of race. kinda made it seem like instead of totally locking up and poking in that he may have tweaked a muscle and simply had to slow to a comfortable pace. not sure. anyway, it was still an awesome race and I would gladly lick the sweat from his nasty ball sack just to be half as good as he is. oh, and jamie is still the greatest guy I've ever known. at everything. except arm wrestling.

He had a hamstring cramp.
