Kimmie

Perry- glad to see you are mortal, like the rest of us.

Erika- I agree... I heard about tons of people who got stuck in a long lines of traffic for 30 minutes or more.  It was a logistical nightmare.  So, now I feel LESS bad (is that proper English))   for making Paul and his friend Chris almost late.  He didn't tell you about our police escort.     And that is some run... 21 miles in 8:27 pace... and it felt easy?  You are most definitely going to do well at Boston.

Murphy-  good for you on losing the weight.   I seem to be doing better at the myself.

Dave- maybe we can pick another race.  Do you know your travel schedule?  There is the Frederick Marathon in early May-  they have a relay.  Smile  Team blister relay.  And I like your picture... that looks like the picture of you and Perry last year.  Wink

Paul- glad you guys had fun and it was great to meet you!

Pam-  great job on the 5K.

So, I didn't run yesterday... scheduled day off, although I don't really like taking Mondays off.  I will run tonight, I think.   I like running with my group but it hits smack dab into family dinner time.

Need to fit in another 20 miler and then taper time.  My niece is coming and we will be looking at colleges.  I really want to spend as much time as possible with her, so I may try to run my 20 on Thursday.  That seems crazy to me, but I think I can do it.

Gonna be party at Amanda's this October!

NICE race Kimmie!!  I don't see any reason why 20 on Thursday won't kick ass!

      Nice pic Dave!

Erika I've tried something like that but I think what's going on is a bit much for that stuff

Your toughness is made up of equal parts persistence and experience. You don't so much outrun your opponents as outlast and outsmart them, and the toughest opponent of all is the one inside your head." - Joe Henderson

        ooops that is big. SORRY

          Do they have a half?

           Yes, both of them do.

Im keeping that option open myself.

Hmmm, Kimmie, I don't recall saying that run was "easy," at least not the last third with the hills and the headwind. Up to that point, it was great. Turning into the wind was a real "WTH??" moment because I hadn't realized it was there. Oh well, good training and all that.

Pam, that New Skin would work to help prevent that from happening. For now, you've gotta let that one heal. But I bet some tape on it would do the trick, or moleskin. I used to get blisters like that a lot till I found that spray stuff. Like a silicon coat for your feet.

GL with the 20, Kimmie. I bet you'll be fine for it, just eat well Wednesday night and go. Remember, your legs really don't know what day it is!

Didn't do anything yesterday. Seems like I get one "rest day" a month and that's mainly just because life gets in the way and I can't get to my planned workout. Last night was one of those. Oh well. Today we're back on track with the gym bag all packed and the after-work run route planned. I love doubles!

Could hardly walk this morning due to a slightly swollen blistered toe, but lanced it, and after a while it was all better and forgot all about it. Another short run after discovering quads still trashed.

Frederick sounds entertaining. It's like National in that hills are mostly in one half, but they're bigger and it's the second half they're in. Heh.

Got a cheap pair of shoes at the race expo; forgot all about that possibility. Sweet.

It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.

Good evening... nice 8 miles tonight with the group.

Ran with the rep from Adidas, and it was way too fast.  I thought it would be fun, just to see how long I could hold that pace that was ridiculously hard for me and ridiculously easy for him.  The answer: 2 miles  and then my legs were a little mad.

Pam and Perry- sorry you're having to deal with the blisters... that's no fun.

Blisters suck. Worst I got was during my first Air Force Marathon. Seemed like it was on the whole side of my foot. That marathon still haunts me. I was killing it for 20 miles, then crashed. Shoulda been my best one.

Ran 3 miles at lunch. Starting to get a bit of my fitness back. My 'easy' pace was back to normal, and wasnt tired. Need to resist the urge to put in high mileage at this point. Just need to work up to be ready for the 1/2 Pig.

The 15k that I usually do is this Sunday. Would like to run, but we have a work event at the minor league hockey game Saturday, so Im not sure I'll be in the best of condition to run it.

                  Dave

                    Blisters suck.

Kind of ironic seeing as how it's part of the team name .

Good week for the most part this week.  Rest day yesterday and snuck out for 4.2 at lunch outside with a couple of co-workers.  Nice to be running again.

Youngest daughter turned 5 today.  With an older sister, she's been bugging us to get her ears pierced so we gave in.  They do look cute.

I ran a mile and I liked it, liked it, liked it.

                    On the road again...

                      Blisters.  Ouch!

Set out for 3 easy miles and quit at 2.25.  No injury, just didn't feel fueled enough.  Got really jittery so I figured not much was gonna be gained by that last 3/4 of a mile.

                      Tomorrow's another day!

I write. I read. I run. One time, I ran a lot on my 50th birthday.

Hate blisters.  You both probably know this already but Desitin Diaper Rash Cream is the best  I know  of for  relief.  I know several who apply it before a long run to help prevent them.  If you  have them already  it soothes and helps them heal faster.

I had to rest Sunday and Monday for the University Study.  Ran Tuesday night in 70 degree temps and then back out this morning for 10-miles before work.  Diet has me feeling weak but the weight  is starting to budge.  I need to stick with it.

                        Kimmie

ok, I did NOT know that about Desitin... good to know.

Dave, we've had our share of recent ear piercing drama over here.  But they look good on her.  Smile Glad you're getting out to run at lunch time.

Paul- smart move.  Sounds like you know your body and when to pack it in.

Murphy-  I didn't know you were running the PIg 1/2.  That sounds fun.

I subbed PE today and it involved teaching kids how to pace and then speed up progressively.  I found the best way to teach them was to run with them.  Well, I did this over and over with each class-  probably 2 hours of almost solid running.  (maybe 5 minutes in between each class to explain)   So, I wasn't going to count this as a run, but then I am tired tonight and definitely FELT like I ran today.   The afternoon classes I started to get a little tired, so I only ran SOME laps with them.  These laps were in a gym...maybe I could do the math if I really wanted to figure out the distance.

Kim, I'd just estimate the time, then take a pace guess, and calculate a distance from those two.

It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.

10.1 miles @ 8:47/mi.  I went a little slow because my adductor is talking to me again, but I went a little fast because I wanted to get 10 in.  So it was either a fast recovery run or a slow GA run Smile

Getting ready to go out for my 20 miler.

My legs are a little beat up.  I think it may be from  1. the yucky roads in DC  2. Running on the gym floor Monday and Wednesday.

Hope that they loosen up and there's no issue.
