    My all-time longest streak was 100 days in the summer of 2020 (mainly running circles in the yard). That was brought to an abrupt end by Hurricane Laura. I was concerned that if the recently ended streak had continued it would have hit 100 days right at the peak of hurricane season (early September) and we could do without another hurricane hitting here.

    We have a standby generator that covers much of the house in the event of a power failure, but it takes 3-5 seconds before we are on generator power. That gap (and the short outages we have been experiencing) is long enough to cause the set top box, the modem/router, etc. to reboot, which in the case of the set top box takes several minutes. I've just invested in a battery backup to cover those and I'm pleased to say that passed the test Wednesday evening.

    We got a couple of battery backups last year for our electronics and they've been great for those occasional power drops during summer storms.  It's great, especially when working from home, that I don't have to keep waiting for the router to reboot, or have to go to the basement to restart our NAS drive.

      Morning!

      DW is now home, still tired of course, but everything is getting back to normal.

      Fred - good diet is almost a smart idea and can't hurt, but yeah, time will tell. Nice easy run, it would be difficult to do anything harder in this weather.

      Quick - nice TM run. Barring another power outage you can get another streak going in no time.

      Damaris - hope your run went well

      Mike - nice 5M run this morning!

      74F and humid this morning, sigh. I ran 4.5M easy and did the pull-ups.

        Good news!

        Nice run in these conditions.  I have already decided it's quite unlikely I'll be going at 100% in tomorrow's ParkRun (though I can never rule it out as I have an irrational side that kicks in sometimes at races).

          Morning! I have 4 after work. Finalizing a bunch of end of quarter stuff that have deadlines of today.

          I did one of the Barre workouts and now I can barely twist my body without being sore AF, ha.

              Vitaly - that's good news.  My son has Crohns, so it's nothing by GI talk around here Smile  Nice run today in 93% humidity!

              Damaris - you should only be sore for a few days Smile  I've been going to a gym for 3.5 years and I keep wondering when the soreness will go away!  I'm trying to figure out a nice balance between the gym and running.  I need the strength and core training, but don't want to double up too much on the cardio.  Plus, it seems the jumping at the gym irritates my calves more than straight running.

              Fred - way to tackle those hills in this weather.

              Quick - nice run on the TM, although it seems dangerous lately!

              I ran just short of 5 this morning at a medium pace.  The humidity is ridiculous!

                  Fred - looks like you very true to your word and did not run 100% today, smart move!

                  Mike - I had my fair share of GI issues, it’s never pretty 🤦‍♂️

                  Damaris - hopefully you are less ore today!

                  Quick - very nice 10k, sub-1hr!

                  I ran 6 miles easy, still hot and humid, the legs are still sore, but improving, so it’s time for some tempo tomorrow 😂

                    Problem is I used to do barre 5 days a week and apparently my body forgot.  I have 12 later.

                      Quick - Nicely done on the 10k.

                      Mike - Yeah, the humidity right now isn't what we're used to.  Good run yesterday.

                      Vitaly - Nice 6 and good luck with the tempo run tomorrow.

                      I ran 3 easy early this morning and then went to the ParkRun with my younger son.  I didn't take it quite as easy as Vitaly might think since my first entry on Garmin was unedited and reflected the fact that I forgot to stop my watch for 4-5 minutes after the race.  My plan was to run around a 9-minute mile and I wound up with an 8:46 average, running 27:14.  I was 20th at the turn, quickly moved up to 18th, then slowly got up to 16th, at which point 15th disappeared around a turn off in the distance, so 16th of 75 it was for me (and 1st of 2 in AG).  My son pointed out that the only PB notched today was a 49:39, reflecting the very warm (79º ) and humid conditions.

                        The dew point hit 73º this morning, which is the highest I've run in so far this year.  I'm just not used to this (though I'm sure Quick won't hesitate to remind us of how much worse it is in LA).  8½ miles in air that felt thick.  I'm surprised I averaged 10:48.  Everyone else in the house is still asleep.

                          Damaris - I hope your 12M LR went well!

                          Fred - I guess I can't just take Garmin readings at face value, 27:14 makes much more sense! Good job and yay on AG win!

                          Yes, it was not pretty out there this morning...

                          As Fred pointed out, the humidity combined with warm temps made it tough to run, but I still went ahead with my planned workout.

                          The only change I made was to add a water stop in the middle of the run (and also took my shirt off then);

                          The workout was as follows:

                          2M @HM / ~3 min jog (+1 min SR -water stop, taking shirt off)
                          1M (@5K+10 sec) / 0.5M jog
                          4x0.25M @5K+ (0.25M jog)

                          Interval paces were:
                          2M @HMP (6:40 target) ->  6:40, 6:30 [6:35 OA] ;
                          1M @5K + 10 sec (target 6:10) -> 6:09;
                          4x0.25M [target 6:00]- 1:26.6; 1:26.5; 1:25.5; 1:26.6; [1:26.3 OA = 5:45 pace]

                          Total distance was 8.1M; also did the pull-ups.

                            My LR went well but it left my Achilles a bit angry. I have 5 and weights later.

                            Vitaly, excellent workout.

                            Fred, I do like that the dewpoint up here (and in your area) does not get as bad as in the SOuth. I've run in 82 dewpoints and anything above 70 is just disgusting no matter how many times you do it.

                              Just checked the current dewpoint, which is 75. But this is at 11am and temperature is 88F, feels like 96. So, fast forward on Accuweather to 6am tomorrow morning - dew point 76 (temperature 78, feels like 87). Just typical for this time of year. Accuweather shows indoor humidity as "extremely high" too.

                              Looked back to the summer of 2019 in my workouts. On 7/13/19 I ran 15.5 miles early morning (started 6.05) in humid and 81F. I averaged 10:58 pace.

                              I'm sure Damaris experienced worse conditions in Florida.

                                And never again will I experience it because I won't run in that. I trained during those horrible 10 months of Summer but never felt it did me any good come races in the Fall or Winter. To me the benefit was minimal and not worth the hours of misery.
