your challenge is merited, miss tonay. there is indeed no evidence that the aforementioned monkey cannot speak english. therefore, i cannot "know" the monkey does not speak english. alas & alack, i made an assumption.
on another note, i once knew a girl named merit, and she did have a pet ferret, and the ferret did die, and merit did cry -- but she kept the wee pelt and did wear it!
