All About that Pace 2024
Got my butt out of bed and ran over 2000 miles for first time since 2019. Qualified for Boston at two marathons. Ran the CAT 50K in July in MD which is a beat down. Had fun on Krash's team in 2022.
Got sick more than I would've liked which screwed up one race and caused me to miss a few others. But, won 7 races out of 10 that I ran (5 x 10k and 2 x HM), so that's a stat I'll likely never top! Overall mileage down a little bit due to getting sick, but still comfortably over 4,000km, hoping for a healthy start to 2023.

"CONSISTENCY IS KING"
The first half of the year was a trainwreck. Injured and sick, resulting in a "just finish" spring marathon, my slowest in 9 years. The second half made me forget all about that. Ran 5k & HM not far off PR, got the PR for 10k, then knocked it out of the park at the Chicago Marathon with a 4.5 min PR and 2 min negative split.

Enjoyed doing lots of miles in shorter doubles (and the occasional triple) every day. This is working for my current work schedule, staying ready for 1/2 marathons. Lots more trail run/walks this year...

I ran my fastest 100 in Feb at the U.S 100 road championship in 14:58 and place 5th male. 7 Weeks later ran a trail 100 miler and finished 4th. Then won the Mckoy flats death race (backyard Ultra style) in 15 hours and 72 miles. Ran my a 2:58 marathon for my first road marathon in 10 years. I am not done yet. I have a 24 hour loop race at the end of the year. Hoping to run a new PR by at least 10 miles. This has been one of my lowest years for Krashes. It has to do with all the road I am running and not as much trail running.
#RunEveryDay
My running year finished with parkrun this morning. It might be the only time I win my age group; I was the only one in my age group in a group of 31 runners. It's been a good run year in spite of the tough times. 1603.6 miles (my highest annual mileage). I ran 24 races --- 1x 50k, 1x Full Marathon, 2x Half marathons, 1x 15k, 3x 10k, 1x 8k and 15x 5k. I ran my first ultra, my first half marathon as a pace bunny and, late in the year, joined the race committees for two races. Strange to think I only ran two halfs. I really like that distance. And as always, I got outside to run every day. (Today is streak day #3322.) Bring on 2023!
