Snowmageddon Mondaily (Read 20 times)

AT-runner

Tim

Time to take bets and see if weather prognosticators are accurate this time.  My neck of the woods is in 12-18" forecast area with snow starting around 8 pm tonight and all day tomorrow.  Should be a fun run tomorrow. Might have to break out the ski goggles for the first time in a couple of years.

Usually a SRD but might run a few miles on the road just in case tomorrows run gets cut short.

Finished my bedside tables yesterday. DW picked this design. I don't usually do drawers this way, but it worked, and she's happy.

QOTD:  What are you streaming / watching?  We just finished season 1 of The Crown. Pretty good.  Catastrophe season 3 isn't out yet, so looking for a good suggestion, especially if we are snowed in all day tomorrow.

    “Paralysis-to-50k” training plan is underway!

Monday is normally an SRD, but I decided to run this morning because I sort of slacked off this weekend with only a little over 25 miles for the week. However, I have absolutely no recollection of the alarm going off this morning. I just remember my wife shaking me and saying, "It is 5:15."

QOTD: I am not watching or streaming anything. I am not into any shows right now. I am looking at maps and aerials of the woods and tromping around learning some new places.

I've seen forecast of 15-20" here and 18"-24" so who knows. I guess a lot of snow is coming though. Dang my Florida timing was way off this year.

A pair of 13 milers over the weekend, getting a nice weekly total but no long run. Plan is to get out after work for 90 minutes with the Lady. Get some miles in this week before the trails get socked in.

QOTD: Sneaky Pete on Amazon right now.

In dog beers, I've only had one.

Got in a good nap last night at work so I'll be able to stay up today . Gonna pound a Monster Rehab for a little caffeine pick me up then head to the gym for a good lifting session.  I had been trying to avoid running on the same days I lift but I might just run some today since tomorrow is supposed to be snowy. Weather people keep saying it will be one of the biggest snows we've ever had in March.  If so that means I need to get 28-32 inches because that's what we had back in '93.

AT - Those look really nice. I'm always amazed at what you woodworkers can do.

LB2 -  I'm assuming your stalking some turkeys. I really need to get working on planning next falls deer hunting locations and get some minerals out.

XT - I hear ya on the bad timing. Our initial plans were to leave for Texas today or tomorrow. Then I signed up for a class and had to push in back two weeks. Now the damn call has been cancelled .

QOTD: Keeping up with some things in the stock market these days. Talks of interest rate hikes and corporate malfeasance  means that there may be some opportunity to bolster the retirement plan with some acquisitions.  Following that close enough it could be considered streaming.

From a movie stand point I just watched Baby's Day Out while we were in Texas. I find that as funny as the Three Stooges.

Got in 3.5+ last night with a better moon than the night before.  It was like God was shinning a flashlight on me.  I live near a gold course which has a number of pine trees so I ran up that way just to see the silhouettes of the trees against the brilliant moon.  Wish I had a camera.  It was one of those sights I will keep imbedded in my mind.

AT: Nice job on the end tables.  Refinishing furniture has become a hobby of mine (as if I need more).  We have no less than 10 pieces in our home currently that I have refinished.  I have a couple sitting in the garage to finish and plans to do 2-3 other pieces in the future.  It took me all weekend but I finished our basement flooring.  My hands are all cut up and beat up due to working with the flooring.  It was easy to cut but created some sharp edges.  But it's done.  Except now my garage is full of stuff I needed to move from the basement to give me room to work and we have a bit of snow coming tomorrow.  Guess the cars will need to suffer out in the snow.

QOTD: Watching The Blacklist.  DW got me into it.  I wasn't going to watch it but I got hooked. So I will finish it out.

              Have a great day!

My favorite day of the week is RUNday

March 25. I did a nice hike yesterday. My piriformis is a little tight today, a reminder to keep hiking in my training throughout the year.

Mainly, I am just listening right now. I don't like to get close until it is time to kill one. I have been watching some in a field from the road, but I can't hunt there. But I found at least one on some adjacent property. It is hard to hear anything there because of the road noise. He is a last resort, though. Most of my good places have been pulled out from under me recently. People are paying high dollars for hunting rights now. I had one place that was quite nice, 532 acres. I had complete and exclusive access to it for many years, at no cost. I babied those birds for about 12 years. I killed one or two off of it every year, usually two. A couple of years ago some guys offered him 20K per year for hunting rights. I won't pay money to hunt. I'll take a road trip and hunt public land for a week in the spring every year before I do that. Unfortunately, I don't have time to take a trip this year, so I'll just piece it together as best I can this spring. I still have some good places, but I don't have unlimited access.

rest day for me-- gym later, before the snow starts.  Got in about 4 miles on the Smithsonian Mall yesterday, around the capital and the tourist groups. One HS group insisted on taking the entire width of a very wide sidewalk. I was on the edge and didn't budge and neither did another girl in a large posse. Our shoulders connected and her phone went flying. It was fine, and she was lucky, but hopefully it startled her enough to pay more attention.  I should have known better than a spring Sunday afternoon, but I met DH to go to the new REI here (not impressed).

the forecast  here is 4-6" or 12"+ depending on your source.

                      AT- Nice tables

                      Jamie- Congrats on the floor

qotd: the Great British Baking show. It's hilarious and good, and I feel as if I'm learning a bit of british culture. Even the kiddos usually join in. And for a 'reality' tv show, it's quite positive- no back stabbing, no personal drama or conflict. Just friendly, happy baking.

                          SRD for me today.

Hope all you folks in the NE will be ok.  Hurry scoop up those Pop Tarts before it's too late!!!

qotd: we were watching some show on demand that was good, but I have no idea what the name of it was.  I'll check with the DW and get back to you. (It's called "Thus is Us", evidently it's pretty popular.)

Love it. We've seen every episode available.  Mary Berry is amazing. She has written over 75 baking books and is going strong at 82. We love how modest the bakers are and so apologetic if they produce something the fails. Never get that in US show.

went on a winter trip over the weekend; about a 15 mile loop on snowshoes- I encountered probably the toughest snow conditions I've ever experienced for 3-4 of those miles. I was breaking through up to my knees and sometimes to my waist   I kept thinking this won't last too long- when I finally made to the meadow I wanted to camp, I was fried!!!
