Are there mt. lions in that area?
Hope they find him. Are there mt. lions in that area?
Yes, a woman running was killed 04/23/94 on the Western State trail but a MT Lion. My guess is he fell off the edge of the trail, some are steep.
I haven't been able to figure out which way they went when they left Forresthill. But he has been out for two days and two cold nights wearing running stuff. Conditions have not been good either. Between last night and today they have received about 6 inches of snow in the area.
Here is the Facebook page of his running club.

Occasional Runner
Was he really lost, or just out for a super long run? I would totally claim to have been on a REALLY long training run.
It will be interesting to hear the whole story...
Yeah, I think I'd go with... "hey I was just out for a long run, what's the big deal?"
Great news, can't wait to hear what happened.
A follow-up on what happened. I guess he was really turned around and out in the middle of nowhere. I'm sure his conditioning as an ultra runner help him get thrugh it. Just reading the caption below is "chilling".

Damn, he's a tough old bird. Smiles and all.
Endless trails
That's good news, it could easily have been alot worse.
Faster Than Your Couch!
Glad he came back uninjured and well.
Now why does that story ring so familiar in my ears (ledge, nowhere further to go,...)?
Run for fun.
Was he actually training for Western States, or just running on the course?
Take Charge. Train Harder. Suck Less. No Excuses.
