Late Mondailies (Read 33 times)

Daydreamer1

I was supposed to work today but switched a shift to help another guy out so I'll work tonight. That leaves me with enough time to get up on the mountain for 12-14 miles. Temp is 55 and climbing so it should be a nice run.

QOTD: Have you ever deliberately done anything that caused you to expect to get fired or at the very least put on a black list?

I just sent a e-mail to the big bosses telling them what I thought of some recent and past decisions they have made. There has been too much catering to certain bad employees, now things have gotten out of hand. Instead of addressing the issue with those employees, everybody gets punished. I also pointed out that some of the mid level supervisors are being abusive.  I may end up having to look for a new job. Oh well, worse things have happened to me.

Good morning all.  I had a nice 4 mile run in the predawn darkness.  It was very windy.

QOTD: I once refused to apologize to an attorney who yelled at me until he was red faced, with his fists up in the air, cussing and ranting like mad man.  He was angry because I told him that the new book I had just ordered for the firm's library was in deplorable condition after he wrote in it with a red marker and even tore out several sections of pages and stapled them together.  The book cost several hundred dollars.  The office manager told me to apologize to the attorney for using the word deplorable.  I was called in for several meetings, each time being told to apologize for the word.  I did not.  Nothing was ever said about the book's condition or the attorney yelling at me.  I thought I would get fired, but I quit instead, telling the manager that he should not encourage attorneys to treat their staff that way.  I learned that a few months later, the office was raided and that attorney had his computer confiscated.  It turns out he was somehow involved in child pornography.  I'm glad I never apologized to him.

Daydreamer: Sometimes you gotta stick to your principles.  Finding a new job can be scary, but sometimes it can really make a positive difference in your life.  There's no reason to spend the majority of your day in an unpleasant environment if you don't have to.

SRD today.  Feel pretty good so far with taper.  Sometimes I get all sorts of wiggles and aches, but nothing so far.

        GO Badgers!  Beat Duke!

QOTD: I've cussed my boss out several times but I never seem to fire myself.   Dd1, good luck, sometimes better to stand up and point out all the crap then living with it.

QOTD when I was younger I was using my boss's truck for personal things because my car was broken down.   It turns out I seized the engine up because I didn't check the oil, he wasn't very happy.

Now I am in the union, and as long as you show up every day and don't threaten to kill people it's almost impossible to get fired. I don't believe that's a good thing, because it keeps a lot of lazy people on the job.

Scumbag.  If Dante were alive today he would have placed child pornographers at the lowest level of hell.

Morning! I have been MIA for a little.  Trying to get my running legs back but it's been tough.  I hope to get out for a few miles tonight.

DD - good for you.  Sounds like you are ok if you get let go.  Hey what ever happened to your schooling? Weren't you taking classes at HACC?

QOTD: No not really.  As a teenager I walked out on a job on my first day.  No I mean I literally walked out without saying anything.  I think I might have walked out the back door.  What kind of a job was it? A pet store.  Seriously.  I was young and dumb I suppose.  But since then I have had little to no drama at work.

              Have a good day!

Good morning!  I had a lovely weekend of no running.  32 miles on the bike on Saturday and 53 miles on the bike on Sunday.  Pretty sure that's most miles I've put on the bike in two days.  I learned that lube is my friend.

SRD today, but lots of cheering and jumping around will be happening later tonight!

Oh, and in terms of baseball...Go Cubbies!

QOTD: I never have.  Goody Two Shoes here.

                Running is dumb.

I have been a little hiatus for a few days. I really covered some ground hunting last week, even though I only hunted a few mornings and one evening. Despite the small number of hunts., I found myself totally exhausted by the middle of last week, so I took a break from everything. Walking miles and miles carrying a bunch of stuff is different from running miles and miles. Anyway, I'll probably run about 5 this evening after work. I am totally rested now.

QOTD: I don't think so, but when things get stupid, it is hard to hold my sarcasm back. And I have been here long enough that I usually let her rip.

Awesome 9 miler yesterday with the four legged run buddy. I am enjoying perfect weather with no bugs (yet). Ok...ticks...but they don't swarm around my head. Running 3-4 with a work friend.

Qotd: when I was xxx a brand new paralegal I worked for an ass hole attorney who would give 0 guidance on what he wanted me to do. There were few resources in the practice who would help. Before my review I asked if I was meeting expectations. He said yes...that was it..a one word answer. Then...he blasted me with the official review and made the office manager give me the review. Little meek me demanded a meeting with him and the associate that worked with him. I announced that working with the partner was lime talking to a stone wall...blah blah blah. I was about to leave on maternity leave and told them when I returned I expected NOT to be working for him. His only defense was"I think people work better without guidance" it was the first spontaneous growth of a back bone ever.

Very chilly morning...if you didn't see my post yesterday I actually ran in the first snow of the year yesterday!  So I walked the dogs this morning and plan on running my 5 miles at lunch.  We are actually expecting a foot of snow in the mountains tonight. although my lunch run will probably be in the 50s.

QOTD: No..I'm an angel at work and have the ability to put up with a lot of shit!!. I have no problem telling them what I think about decisions made but if they do not agree with me I go back to my desk, surf running ahead and than get over it.

Earl and I are blurry but you know we run so fast hard to capture..(posted yesterday but can't seem to figure out how to post pictures here using the ipad.

                          G'Day,

MIA for a few days. Work, family, kids, Easter,... a bit much. Oh, yes, and running... - never too much on that side of the river.

Chilly morning, with frost on my car, but now it's close to 60, so I'll head out for my heat run. I'll take my pacer (DS on his bike) with me for some speedy downhills on the gravel road, rest trails.

Holding rank 7 on the MMT100 wait list now - I better start some training.

                          sugnim: What a story!

QOTD: A few times. After I had graduated with my Master's Degree, I started my PhD work with the same professors. They had me build up a lab for experiments. However, the prof always walked into the lab with his very muddy shoes on, and then yelled at me that I should immediately clean up that mess with a mop, or better on my knees. I refused, stating this was not part of my job description. After another altercation, I walked out on him (literally), and started my PhD work "somewhere else".

There, as I was still young and immature, I put my name first on a presentation which was given by my PhD advisor (the big chief), but which showed the results of my work, even though the advisor had explicitly asked me to put his name first, as it was his presentation, not my (written) publication. When he came back from the conference, he called me into his office, and I expected to get yelled at (here we go again!) and fired before I could graduate. However, he took it in stride, and just casually mentioned that my name on the presentation had caused a bit of confusion amongst his colleagues, all of them high-level executives on various government and industry boards. Turned out my work had been recognized by the executives, and my name remembered, which helped me later on in my career.

That actually taught me that sometimes bending the rules can be a good thing, all with good measure, of course.

                          Run for fun.

Did a short and easy jog around the hood this morning then took the Springers out for a little field work. One more week of good field work and then state lands become closed to free running dogs. Some of the mountain bike trails have opened so I'll be heading out for some more trail miles shortly. Have I ever said how much I like having a 3 day weekend?  Of course my work called a couple times this morning but I never answered it. Every day is a crisis of some sort there.

I suppose I might watch a little hoops tonight.

QOTD--No great stories for me but I like yours. I was the employer for close to 35 years, I've got a ton of stories about some of the employees I've had.  Now that I am playing out the string at my minion job I have been somewhat insubordinate at times basically to carve my work parameters. My managers actually like me and really don't want to lose me and will try to work with me whenever possible. All that said...on any given day....

6.5 at lunch today.  Beautiful spring weather here.

QOTD:  No - I've just quit.  I generally try to avoid drama and confrontation.

                              Are we there, yet?

First trail run all year on Mt Joy in VF NP. Took it very easy, tentative on the downhills, walked the tougher uphill sections. Only 4 miles, but that's fine for the day after a 10-miler.

QOTD: Never done anything to deliberately get me fired, but I've done a few things I wouldn't have been surprised to be fired for.
