Finish the week strong Fridaily (Read 25 times)

Ok so not sure I will finish the week strong - at least not running wise.  I ran a good 5 last night and will take a 0 day today.  But I look forward to the weekend even if it will be rainy and windy.

    QOTD: Weekend plans?

Normal stuff around the house on Saturday and a little running mixed in.

    Have a great weekend!

My favorite day of the week is RUNday

I plan to run tonight. I plan on 40 to 50 miles. It depends on many things, though. My truck battery went dead this morning, so I have a few things to take care of before I start. I'll probably dog it off at 40 miles. That is probably good enough. It is definitely good enough.

QOTD: Fish fry Saturday afternoon, which is why I am running long tonight. I don't want to miss the last fish fry before the elections. Even though I am not running again, I still have an interest in some hot races.

Planning on running something today, just not sure how much other than it will be greater than 4.5 miles since that it my shortest course. Yesterday ended up being a zero. Started cleaning a shed that hasn't been cleaned in a 5-8 years . Looks a lot better now.

QOTD: Some kind of running, maybe some biking depending on the weather.  Also be spending a lot of time on my pickup project.

A good morning to all.  No run today. Going with some friends to see The Martian tonight right after work. I read the book, and it was very good, so hopefully movies lives up to the hype.

Burke - good luck on your run. 2 mile loops - sounds like you're ready for a 24hr event.

Good luck to all the racers and pacers this weekend.  I see a few local races (Baltimore area) have been cancelled due to the approaching storms.

QOTD:  See above. Plus a rainy run tomorrow with DW and Apple Harvest Festival. Some college football thrown in for good luck.

          “Paralysis-to-50k” training plan is underway!

Howdy!  Hobby jogger lurker, checking in, just a little late from the catch up thread!

I ran 63 miles in September, the best thing about fall is a tie between cozy sweatshirts and pumpkin spice everything, I've never been in a tropical storm, and I'm not a fighter.

QOTD:  Starting my hiking training plan to be in shape for hiking at Death Valley over Thanksgiving.  Time to put the ol' soup cans in the backpack and haul it up and down a lot of hills.  I'm not sure what my body can handle at this point, so I need to find out.  Also helping with building a bearded dragon cage and watching football.

            Running is dumb.

            Faster Than Your Couch!

              Good Morning,

I've been very productive so far on my day off: After getting the kids, each with their packed lunch, out the door, I cleaned DS's fish tank and the cats' litter boxes, took care of 100 household chores, washed two loads of laundry, and now I'm getting ready to head out for a short run. Not sure how far, as I'm still on this bronchitis thing.

Jamie: Still kudos for getting out at night!

LB2: Dread the dead batteries. Hope your long run will go fine!

DD1: Even a short run is a run!

AT: I heard that The Martian is the most realistic Mars-Sci-Fi movie around. Only the "storm" scene in the beginning is unrealistic, as Mars' atmosphere is very thin, so a "storm" would not have much force. But everything else, a NASA Mars-mission specialist stated on the radio, was surprisingly accurate. Have fun!

Mandy: If you get tired, at least you can have some soup! (Don't forget the can opener, and a small stove, all only for practicing reasons, of course)

QOTD: Work. Football weekend, that explains it all. Not sure if I'll get in a run after a 12-hour-and-overnight shift all on my feet at work.

Kids' friend's birthday party, and school movie night, in between High School Homecoming (DD is in the marching band) weekend. May get busy at times.

              Run for fun.

              Are we there, yet?

URD yesterday. I do not like cold rain. More rain today...and the day after and the next day and... And the zipper on my rain jacket is broken so I'll need to improvise.

QOTD:  Doctor's appt later this morning then driving to Lehigh U. to watch the Paul Short Cross Country Invitational where I'll get in my running as a spectator. The rest of the weekend is normal, i.e. working Saturday and Sunday evenings.

                 2024 Races:

I had a very nice 8 miler over at Green Lane last night. All the fair weather people were gone so had the place to myself. A nice mix of light and moderate rain. Pleasantly cool in the mid 50's. It felt pretty awesome and the Lady and I had a most excellent run. It got pretty dark towards the end in the woods so footing was by feel but I managed not to go kersplat. We had only planned on 7 but I through in another hill and descent to extend the loop and get a bonus mile. More rainy running planned this evening.

QOTD: We scratched our AT/Hawk Mountain run this weekend as it be more fun on a more pleasant fall day, plus the Skyline trail rock scramble would be dicey in the rain. I'll do a run Nolde Forest/French Creek instead, watch some football, eat some food, drink some beer, and maybe even help clean the house.

In dog beers, I've only had one.

When I was coaching XC, we took out kids there every year. Love that race.

Congratulations at NC24 hr.  Don't know if you saw the #2 woman's winner (Laurie Dymond), but she's a good friend of mine and logged 135.11 miles.

                    some call me Tim

I'll get a handful in today, probably on the road cause I finally got new road shoes and I kinda want to try them out.

qotd: All kinds of winter prep projects.. the list is looooong this year so best to get an early start

                      DD- from yesterday:

This is my cider press from last year

Just a bottle jack, a big steamer basket, a handful of plastic sheeting and a bunch of scrap lumber and fasteners. I never specifically bought anything in the past, but this year I'm actually gonna break down and get some big carriage bolts The first time out, I made the pomace by smashing the apples with a hammer in a bucket. Last year I repurposed an old garbage disposal, but even if I kept it spinning low it would constantly overheat. Anyway, for somebody who fabricates his own cab mounts it could be a fun project if you get some time one of these years Big grin

Too busy to post yesterday but I got a quick 6 miles in before I had to drive 9 hours back to PA last night. Got in late but woke up this morning and hit the AT for another 8 miles. It was good to run in my old stomping grounds again.

QOTD: Sitting in the woods, in the rain, and watching people get lost as they attempt to use a map and compass. Following that I have another 9 hour drive back down to NC to look forward to.

                        Upcoming Races

OBMedic - not sure you saw my post the other day but I live in Camp Hill, probably close to where you used to live or maybe parents still live.  Drop me a line when you're back again, if I have the time I will hit the trails with you.

Ran 4 with the mutts...hell even I am not impressed with myself.  The mutts...well they really pissed me off today and suck almost all the fun out of running...little f*ckers!  Lunch is the gym.

QOTD:  It's suppose to rain all weekend which doesn't bother me.  We are having friends over for food and games tonight.  The rest of the weekend is unplanned but the hubby will be busy so I think I will be cleaning house and maybe fixing the hole in the tent my little f*ckers created.  Maybe a movie.  We went to Everest last weekend and enjoyed it.

7.5 technical trail miles over the mountain, easy peasy to keep the beast inside my lungs at bay. Worked.

It was a beautiful fall run, with dreary weather and colored leaves, mostly on the ground. Our forests have less than 10% autumn foliage, it is just starting now, which is late. But the run reminded me again why I love the trails so much, with the sounds of the creek nearby (with some crossings), lots of roots and rocks and hills, birds singing, wind rustling...

Got hit by acorns falling from 30+ high trees and considered adding a hard hat to my autumn gear - just kidding, but I was happy to be wearing my thick knit hat, and not just a thin summer cap (or worse, a visor, LOL).

XT: ..." I'll do a run Nolde Forest/French Creek instead, watch some football, eat some food, drink some beer, and maybe even help clean the house."  I always knew you are my kind of a guy. Any chance you're gonna stop by my house as well (we might go for a run later)?

darg: nice contraption - seems to do what it's supposed to do, fair enough.

OB:   Maps and compasses, the tools to some people's demise!

Queen: Just take the little ruts off the leash, problem solved (permanently, perhaps). Oh wait, no, you love them, right? If that is any consolation for you, our stray cat is having crazy days right now, too. Seems to be a delayed-onset effect of the super lunar eclipse.

                              Run for fun.

                              NHLA

Still raining. This is a mess. I might go running if it stops. Flood watch now and 4" to 12" more comming according to which way storm goes.

qotd  guess I'll clean the garage. Race at Oskar Blues sat. but not going if its like this.
