Morning trailers!   Last night's run thru the neighborhood was eerily quiet, with a mist still hanging around.  Like those runs.  The rain has passed and the sun has come out without a cloud in the sky.   I'll get out for 6 miles later this afternoon, before dark, to maximize my sun exposure.

qotd:    Any plans for Thanksgiving/Turkey trot races?  Yes, it is the time of year  where once-a-year runners come out of the woodwork for the annual turkey trot, DH included, but we have a local 2 miles race that we usually run.   The distance is aimed at little kids and lower fitness folks (there is also a 10k), but the kiddos now really run it for speed.  And it's a hilly course, albeit short.  I'm hoping I can convince my sister and her family to join us.

Morning.  Ran 3+ last night.  Virtually tied with the Queen (BTW - queenie - what are your running plans this weekend?).  My hip was hurting me afterwards but hoping it's just a minor thing at this point.

So a few weeks ago I talked about cleaning out a part of our attic over the garage due to needing some work to be done up there and finding some goodies (old sleds, antique glass bottles, etc.).  So the guy came and did his work but I found some areas he missed so I am doing it myself.  I was up in the way back last night and found another treasure.  I found a 1970's Penthouse.  It was mostly disintegrated but from what I could see, it was definitely 70's.  It''s pretty where I found it because it would take a lot to crawl back in there and hide it.

AT - sorry for your family's loss.

QOTD: No plans on Thanksgiving (running plans that is).  I was trying to convince DW to run a turkey trot since she is now a "runner" again.  But we are going to State College the night before for our annual trek to Penn State to see a women's volleyball game (Couch I will wave when we drive by!) so she thinks she will be too tired to get up early and run.  We have lots of them around though.  Maybe I will sneak out for a trail run that morning instead then.

      Have a great day!

My favorite day of the week is RUNday

Usual SRD today will be a running day. Should have time to sneak in 5-6 miles over lunch.

After my visit with the funeral director yesterday, I need a stress buster. I really wanted to punch the guy, and I'm pretty passive.  When he brought he contract for my SIL to sign, he actually said "this isn't as bad a giving up your first born". WTF, who says shit like that to a grieving widow.

Kelly - Happy anniversary. Enjoy the day .

QOTD:  No running races, but DW and I always do an early morning run together on Turkey Day.  When kids were home we used to do a 5k as a family. We won the family award a few times and it usually was a pie.

        “Paralysis-to-50k” training plan is underway!

My local trail system hasn't been getting ANY traffic since it got buried in 2 feet of snow, so now it's totally unusable because of the freeze/thaw cycle. I ran on the roads this morning in the rain and wind, then did some circuit training.

QOTD: I don't think so. We go to Charleston SC for Thanksgiving every year and they have a HUGE 5k through the city that we did one time. It's just too much hassle for a 3 mile run.

Kelly - Happy anniversary. Enjoy the day .

Thanks! The best 11 years of my life. We're going to drive up to Sundance tonight and eat at Robert Redford's restaurant. It's some of the best food I've ever eaten. Then I'll probably come home and get Jo to help me work on the basement, because I'm romantic like that.

Forgot to post yesterday, but it was a fairly uninspired 6 wet rainy road miles. Sunny here too, but cooler and the plans are an hour on the trails with the Lady at lunch or late afternoon.

QOTD: I probably will jump into the Dirty Bird 15k trail race but that's not on Thanksgiving Day proper but the Sunday after.

Runtrail - The run last night sounds nice. I should have went out at dark for extra miles.. the rain was lighter then and it was very mild.

Jamie - Score on the 70's porn. I wonder if I've seen that one? My dad had a "hidden collection".  LOL. Rest up this week.

AT - That is really awful about the funeral director.

Lace - Happy Anniversary!!!... that amount of snow sucks.

In dog beers, I've only had one.

SRD today. But that is only because I have a girl's slumber party at my house tonight. I'll slip a little Turkey in my sprite with my buddy whose kids are coming over for the party and just hang out outside; I might build a fire, too. Actually, I might just slip a little sprite into my Turkey. But he is going hunting in the morning, and I am running. So, it won't be much Turkey.

QOTD: Everyone comes over to our house for Thanksgiving. We have a huge kitchen, and I like to cook.

AT: Sounds the funeral director was a real douche bag. I am sorry about your brother in law.

Wow, good luck. We always had such drama when we hosted any slumber parties for our girls. One part of their childhood that I don't miss.

SRD, and it's needed. Every muscle in my upper body is sore.  Not a bit of it from weight training. Actually did some real work yesterday. Drilled at least 44 holes in 3/16 steel for a rack that's being used to move my pick up cab in and out of the garage.  Just about went and got a drill press but decided to just used the hand drill. Now the muscles are feeling it including the abs.

AT - Sorry for your loss. Sounds like your BIL was a inspiring guy.   Maybe the funeral director should seek a new occupation.

                  Kelly - Happy anniversary.

QOTD: Working a 24 hour shift that ends at 8 am that morning. Won't leave much time to get to the starting line or much energy to run.

I wasn't able to sleep last night worry about things I have no control over.  Stupid!   Anyways I dragged out of bed.  I HAD to take the dogs for a run as the old man  is gone and I leave them in the house all  day so they don't dig holes.  So I called work and told them I would be late.   Had a nice little 5.26.  Yesterday's woods were going off..today not so much.  I think I hit the peak.  But now it's Friday and I am in a great mood...isn't runner wonderful?

QOTD:  We were heading to the beach to camp but the weather is changing.  If we stay here I will definitely do the turkey trot.  It's put on by a family who's son killed himself.  He talks and prays before the race which leaves on the verge of crying so I can barely breath at the beginning.  It's our largest local race and half trails half streets.  10K

Jaime:  Not anymore.   and I am keeping my weekend plans a secret from you.   Sorry about the hip...no really!  Enjoy the bush!

AT:  That guy is whacked.  If he's not the owner you should complain.  Thank god she had you there to help.  and sorry for your loss.

Sandy2:  We need but pictures of those bruises..who always says it's not true without pictures?  AT or MT?  Also I so loved that picture of the two boys riding the horses.  It made my day.  I stole it and placed it on FB.  I love photography.

Kelly:  Happy Anniversary...skip the basement and snuggle up with a fire on the couch, some wine, dogs..if you die tomorrow wouldn't be wishing you spent your last night getting the basement finished.

I'm in PF hell. Took a week off and it felt so good I forgot about it then long jumped over a mudhole and tore it bad.

                        5.5 miles at Fletcher Park.

AT  that is so unprofesisional. WTF

                        qotd  no race for me.

                        Faster Than Your Couch!

Rest day, half-scheduled. I knew it would be impossible to get a run in today, but was still hoping for a miracle, which, of course, did not happen.

Worked the the whole day, and I'll have to be up again at 1 a.m. for 12 hrs of more work. I think this is great endurance training, also mentally, for my next 100-miler!  Football weekend, obviously.

                          55

To my total surprise, my youngest DS had picked up a tick, which had bitten him on his head, just about an inch above his hairline in the back. According to DS, it had been there for more than a day (24+ hours). I pulled it out, and it was slightly engorged, so this seems about right. No redness or swelling at the bite site.

Now I'm not sure if I should worry, or just wait and see? I don't want him to contract a meningitis (which would be very likely in Europe) or Lyme disease. If it was me, I'd just wait, but I worry much more about the kiddo than myself.

AT: Sorry for your loss. Sounds like your BIL was strong and determined. What a jerk that funeral director was- must have been really hurtful.

Sandy: Great pictureof the kids "flying!". This is just amazing.

QOTD: No plans. Hopefully a nice run with DD through the woods. She'll leave me in the dust, though.

                          Run for fun.

No run today, but tomorrow I have the day off from grandchildren care and plan a nice long one. I had better be unpacking my winter footwear, instead of the 50's and 60's, winter is supposed to make an appearance.

AT: so sorry about your BIL. He sounds like a remarkable man. Given his circumstances I don't know if I could be so positive.  He sounds amazing.
