September...."just don't F things up" Challenge (Read 36 times)

Le professeur de trail

    For September here's my suggestion:

1.) Run consistently - doesn't matter the mileage

2.) Get a picture of wildlife on a run (and share it)

3.) Get a picture of a good vista on a run (and share it)

4.) Run with a buddy or someone new (at least once)

5.) Get in at least one Long Run (whatever distance that means for you)

6.) Trip/fall less than 3 times during the month

7.) Try a new route or trail

8.) Try a new food (ok not running related but still fun)

9.) Consider what races/adventures you might want for 2017

10.) and most important...don't F things up by getting injured!!!!!

My favorite day of the week is RUNday

Challenge accepted, sir! Considering I am already injured, I will try not get  injured... again. There's some nice granulation tissue in there now and I should be back at it in a couple of days. The human body is freakin amazing.

Love it Jamie...of course I am up to the challenge.  My goal is to learn how to use the wifi in my camera so I can upload pictures easier.  I also just saw a cute little running vest at the store I want to buy so that I could carry my camera on short runs instead of the large pack.  On this mornings run I said I am going to try and run everyday this month so it fits in with the number #1.

I can probably get most of those done. But I doubt I run with anyone. I am thinking about 2017 already. I have just struggled with motivation over the summer, but I am starting to get excited about running again. Seventy-five miles per month for the last two months isn't anything to get excited about, but I think September will be better.

              Are we there, yet?

#'s 2, 7, and 8 are going to be tough. I already frequent most of the foreign cuisine restaurants in the area and that's where I'm most likely to find a new food I haven't tried yet. Finding a new route or trail will be tough unless I make a trip I don't currently have planned. I've been running in the area for 30 years, so new routes are rare.

                 2024 Races:

                      03/09 - Livingston Oval Ultra 6-Hour, 22.88 miles

                      05/11 - D3 50K
                      05/25 - What the Duck 12-Hour

                      06/17 - 6 Days in the Dome 12-Hour.

Jamie, that sounds like fun and will keep my motivation up. Question just is, how many tasks can I get accomplished on 1- and 2-mile runs?

The races will be a tough one, probably I'll rather focus on the adventure.

Wc: cook something new yourself? Run a trail in reverse direction? Combine loops differently?

                    Run for fun.

#8 - I tried Vietnamese food yesterday. Have no idea of the name but it was spicy chicken with broccoli and carrots and basil. Very different taste from Chinese. Think it had oyster sauce and a hint of peanut. Didn't love it, but didn't hate it either.

I'll give it a shot.  #8 might be the biggest problem but I should be able to find something if I look around enough.

Surprise! I ended up on a new trail today. Immaculata U's xc team had a meet at a site I'd never been to before, so I got to run on new trails. The poor runners had to finish their races with the last .7 miles uphill with about a 200 ft climb.

So I ran a portion of the AT I don't usually run.  I am not sure that really counts as a new route.  I got a picture of a nice vista but unfortunately the vista past the trees did not come out in the picture.  But I did get a picture of some wild Turkey.  It was pretty cool actually.  Right after I took some pics, two of the turkeys looked like they were fighting...or playing...hmmm
