I look forward to coming to work and seeing what you folks west of me have done... so it's sad when they is nothing. Hmm no one lives in TN, forgot where the other lottery winner was.. I ran 5.4 this morning with my Mutts. Sure am enjoying my new connector trail. It has allowed me to run without hitting the mud. Not that I mind mud it's just that Jack is short and the way he runs he kicks so much mud on his belly that he needs a bath when we get back.
QOTD: If you just won a million dollars, would you quit your job? Seems appropriate for the day. Yes I would. I am so near retirement there is no reason for me to stay if I have..hmm after taxes $475,000 in the bank. I would then go on a road trip and trail run with each one of you folks.

Refurbished Hip
I ran 5 sluggish miles last night, will attempt to do the same tonight. We have a predicted high of -3 (actual temp) on Sunday. Fuccccckkkkkk that. I will not be venturing outside that day. I think I'll stay inside and watch football and make chili and bake cookies.
QOTD: Yeah, I would totally quit my job for half a mil in cash. Invest it, live cheaply off the interest for a while, then maybe get another job after a few years.
Running is dumb.
Slow morning today. I did get kiddo #1 to an early practice and then did some long overdue housepainting while I waited for the temps to climb. Now, it's nearly 50 and sunny. Worth the wait and heading out for 4 miles in the woods.
qotd: A million but only $475M after taxes? I think I need to work (never mind current status). I think we'd invest it in some real estate in a location for retirement. Where? It would have to have good access to water for kiting and trails for me. That's harder than it sounds since DH would want tropical and I would want some kind of winter.
Occasional Runner
I took the pup down to the trail, or at least to the general area where the trail once was. I think, anyway. I need to find somewhere to string together MANY miles. Maybe St. Croix.
QOTD: 1 million dollars isn't enough to make me quit my job. I could burn through that pretty quick.
Thread killer ..
Well I didn't win . Talking to a friend this morning neither one of us could remember the last time we gambled ( we can gamble at the gas stations, casinos, supermarkets , bars , airport etc...) yet we both bought tickets .
I'm going to run tonight after work .
QOTD: Yes , in a minute . Maybe I should go throw a $20 in a progressive machine .
Are we there, yet?
Nothing much here.
QOTD: A million would be nice, but I like my job for the most part. Retail doesn't pay enough to meet the bills, but I'm semi-retired and don't need to work, so my job has to be enjoyable for me to stay. I like working in a bookstore.

Tim
I got that cold that's going around, so I ran inside on treadmill today. Did some intervals and felt like crap the whole time. Watched game shows while I was running. Didn't know Drew Carey is doing Price is Right. Man wish I went outside instead.
QOTD: No. I'd take a nice trip and give the kids the rest.
“Paralysis-to-50k” training plan is underway!
Doing the exact same thing I did the past two days. People watching and giving directions and every now and then treating a patient. Doing this until 9 pm so no run today.
QOTD: The only reason I actually posted today. Even if I got a million clear I'd still have to work. I've run the calculations before and with me 16 years from retirement age I would need at least four million and five would be preferable. The biggest problem is the cost of health insurance and the fact that secure investments pay almost nothing these days. To live off the "interest" I'd have to invest in dividend stocks.
Keep Going
I did 6 uptempo windy and freezing cold miles last night. Not sure if I will run tonight though. I'm running Phunt 50K on Saturday down in Elkton MD so maybe I should kinda sorta taper. 2 day taper, yup that'll do.
Qotd: A million dollars no I wouldn't quit my job. I would certainly sign up for a hell of a lot more races in exotic places though!
100 milers are my favorite
QOTD: I'd quit my job after I had the money in my hand then I'd encourage a few friends to quit their jobs then we'd spend the money in about 18 months and then look for new jobs.10 miles running at 9:09 overall pace on snow and ice!
running under the BigSky
My hill repeats from last night have my legs feeling like someone took a bat to them- that's good right? I changed them up a bit, ran back down the steep section I went (had been taking a less steep and slightly longer route). I think it might be more of function of not doing them since before the holidays???
SRD today
qotd: with 3 years, 11 months and 15 days to go until I'm fully retired- a million would have me running out the door
2023 goal 2023 miles √
2022 goal- 2022 miles √
2021 goal- 2021 miles √
What!!! I thought you were!
19 years, 5 months ago I could have a had a county firefighter job that I could have retired from with full benefits after 20 years. I thought the drive was too far. Now I'm certain that I was a moron for not taking it .
8 in more frickin snow. I'm starting to think winter finally showed up after all
QOTD. A million wouldn't let me quit my job bit my life would be a whole lot easier.
Put me down for 8 miles out/back on the cinder/dirt rail trail outside of town today. Took the Lady of course. Chilly but not too wintery cold today. Actually felt warm on the way back. A flat mindless sort of run. Zone out and go.
In other running news I signed up for the Mohican100 mile race in June. I decided I can handle a 4 loop course, and the fact it's in a park where I visited as a youth is a plus. So MMT is out even though I likely could have been in. BTW, I am 0/8 on winning race lotteries. About the same as powerball too I suppose.
QOTD: No, $1 million is not enough for me to quit my job, at least presently.
In dog beers, I've only had one.
