Weird Wednesday (Read 18 times)

LB2

We have a cool front pushing through this morning, so I will have to wait until after work to run. I don't plan on ending my streak at 114 days, shooting for 180. If I make 180, I guess I will go for 365. After my meeting yesterday, it appears that most of my work in the future can, and will, be done from home, from truck, from phone, from meeting to meeting, etc. I still have my office at the rural campus, but I don't know how much I will be there. I don't have a problem with this. But I do need to start bringing some stuff home to my office, and I need a bigger desk.

QOTD: What is the strangest thing you have ever eaten?

Bobcat. Although, I am pretty sure I had something more strange and taboo than that from a street vendor in Okinawa. I don't even want to really speculate too much about what it was. But I would say bobcat is the strangest thing that I have knowingly eaten.

got a nice hill workout with Tiny Elvis yesterday; will hit the trails after work today

qotd: I've eaten a wide variety of wild game fare, ones that probably a lot of folks haven't include mountain goat (not great), sage grouse (not great), paddlefish (not bad), snapping turtle (not great), mountain lion (not great, despite what mountain men said), ditto on beaver!

A slow 4 last night on part of the lake trail down by deep creek lake. Not a place I usually run, unless I am doing the long loop around the lake. Forgot how rocky sections of the trail are. Headed in that direction as some sort of wreck/traffic situation closed the road to the lake, thus took a detour and decided to just go to a different place.

Warm and humid for the 2 mile dog wog this morning. Actually sweated during the jogging portion. Plan to do a heat run up at the local trail at lunch. My knees have been creaky the last few days. Probably could use a rest day(s) but since my miles per run are low I'll just keep plodding along.

        QOTD: Lamb fries.

LB2 - I am on a similar streak, probably a few days behind you. I was going to end my streak when the pandemic restrictions end, but that might end up being too long.

Warden - "...Ditto on Beaver!...". That's a good one.

In dog beers, I've only had one.

Since this morning we still had tropical conditions I slept in. I'll do 5 or 6 after work today. We are expecting a few cooler mornings in the 60s over the next few days which is crazy for around here in June, so I figured I'd wait for that !!!!  By the way it'll still be in the 90 in the afternoon, but at least a few mornings will be cooler.

Nice pics mt, I really need to visit there someday.

qotd: I'd have to say some sort of huge snake in Shanghai.  With the way it was served (sort of "steak style") I guess it was about 4 or 5 inches in diameter. It was deep fried and tasted a lot like chicken, it wasn't bad.  Although this was probably 15+ years ago, looking back on it now and thinking about Covid, it probably came through one of those wet markets before getting to the restaurant I ate at.  Yikes.

Ran 5 miles before work so now I can sit in the office with the AC on during lunch.  Don't know how LB and Sandy handle this humidity crap.  It just zaps my energy.

LB and XT, I'm way behind you guys, but I'm at day 42 of my longest running streak.  Could use a rest day, but plan on keeping it going until GVRAT is done.

QOTD:  Rocky MT Oysters or the live eel (on bread with mayo) that we had from a street vendor in Amsterdam.

Work is crazy.  I normally share an office with my coworker but we haven't been allowed to work together since early March.  So I'm in the office on Monday's and at home the rest of the week.  Just heard that it will probably be at least July before we're both in the office.  Thur we do a cash count where we are in the vault at the casino at the same time with the cashiers who run the vault.  Then next week we have to go to the KC casino and do the same thing BUT we have to take separate company cars.  In the casino's the workers (and us) have to wear masks but not the patrons.

qotd:  I've had alligator and frog legs and god knows what from a street vendor in Spain, it might have been dog.

Popping in to say hello!  I'm going camping this weekend and very much looking forward to it.  I can't wait to sleep outside, poke at a fire, spend some time in the woods and sit around eating M&Ms.  Smile

QOTD: Szechuan buttons.  They kinda make your mouth buzz.  This was back when I visited Jason Howland (Runjunkie?  Was that his username?) at the fancy farm he worked at in Ohio.  I got to eat all sorts of weird plants that day.

                  Running is dumb.

11 sloggy miles this morning.  Humidity sucks the life out of you.  I could never live in the south.

Sitting 2 miles behind the #1 Jamie in GVRAT.  He threw down a 17 yesterday so I walked a bunch last night and threw down a 17.3.  Woo Hoo.  I need a rest day and not going to happen until I cross Tennessee.

                    Hi Mandy!

QOTD: Frog legs.  I know, not super strange but I guess I don't get out much.

                    Have a great day!

My favorite day of the week is RUNday

Bailed after 5 miles in the heat.

qotd:Couldn't tell you the strangest thing I've eaten.  I was invited to a Vietnamese wedding reception.  I ate what was served, but no one would tell be what it was until after I'd eaten.  Unfortunately I don't remember what it was, probably something innocuous like squid.

Slogged through 4.5 miles this morning. Ugh, the humidity. We need to move north. I can deal with the snow.

qotd: My favorite is moose meat. Bear was not so good.

Till it’s asshole deep to a giraffe, your hands feel like blocks and your feet stopped feeling like yours two miles ago.
although.... I will say my ten miles in this humid swamp hovered over MI right now added quite a challenge to this mornings run

Qotd: Dollar General hotdog. Got no idea what’s in those things.

Last night after work I struggled through 4 miles, and had hoped for a paddle after...but the radar looked bad with storms coming in. Got up at 4 this morning and out i

On the water by 5...it was great. Bad storms this afternoon, lots of trees down and no power...but damn! It chased away the oppressive humidity.

Qotd: i don't eat a lot of strange food. I have had wild boar...i seem to recall it was pretty good. Antelope is horrible...

5 mile joggity jog this morning on the coastal trail, i.e. bike path.  Foggy this morning and then sunny, might get up to 70 today.  Sorry to hear about the crap weather elsewhere in the country.

QOTD: I'd say it's a toss up between ghost pepper jack cheese (on a burger, the night before Glass City Marathon last year) or some kind of African antelope on a safari many years ago.  The antelope was fairly unremarkable.  I do not recommend ghost pepper jack cheese the night before a big run.

Went back out at dusk to get in the rest of my miles.  No hot sun made it a little more comfortable, but the humidity was even higher and I was drenched very quickly.

qotd:  I had moose stew in Newfoundland and liked it.
