Wet Wednesdailies (Read 20 times)

Daydreamer1

Monsoon Wednesdailies might be more apt. Pouring rain here right now. That's OK though we kind of need it in my area.

Started out last night for a 8 mile jaunt, thought about cutting it short, felt a little better but decided I didn't want to do one of the steeper hills so I detoured around that. Ended up with 9 slow miles.  Today is a SRD due to being at work but if I was home I'd still skip the run. My legs are shot for some reason.

QOTD:  Window up or window down?  When you're in the car driving and it's hot do you keep the window up or roll them down? I tend to keep them down as much as possible. I've even been known to turn on the A/C when it's really hot but still roll the window down . I hate when the A/C doesn't work in a vehicle but I don't like when I have to use it.  Driving long distances, however, is another story. There I will keep to windows up more often and rely on the A/C for circulation.

Good morning!  I managed to run 7.4 miles last night.  I will run again after work today.  Last cool day before our heat wave hits.  High of 96 degrees on Saturday.  Fuuuucccckkkkkkk.  And I have two graduation parties to attend.  Double ugh.

QOTD:  Depends on if I need to look presentable to wherever I am arriving.  I prefer the fresh air, but my hair get really messy from all the wind.  So I usually have them closed on the way to work, but open on the way home.

      Running is dumb.

2 last night with the oldest boy.  He did "ok" We definitely got some work to do. We will be lucky to get a sub 30 minutes 5k.  I ran 8 this morning.  I might flip to morning running for a while to see how that works for me.

Mandy - 96??? So sorry.  Wait, does that mean the heat wave will be coming east? I haven't heard anything about it.

QOTD: Depends.  I don't like getting my hair messed up  so usually up on the way to work or other places.  But I do like driving with the windows down usually.

        Have a great day!

My favorite day of the week is RUNday

we've been over 20 degrees above normal the last three days (90s), glad I'm taking a little hiatus from running. I'll piss and moan about 90 degree weather in August, in early June I'm ready to maim the weather man

bike to work, yesterday on the way home I couldn't have timed it any worse- 5 minutes in and an absolute deluge- can't complain about the rain, but I was soaked through.

qotd: if if its cool enough, windows down, if warm I'm not afraid to use the AC

No time for a run at lunch, so maybe a few miles after work.  Only passing storms here today, no deluge. Supposed to be down to 45 degrees tonight, so great sleeping weather.

Sandy - hope "shake out" run went well.  Good luck this weekend.

Any other racing going on this weekend?

QOTD:  Windows up.  DW's father was an automotive engineer (worked with Lee with Iococca at Ford the on the Mustang, Pinto and Escort). He always said windows up for better gas mileage. I think Mythbusters proved this inconclusive, but I usually have window up. Probably because nice weather conditions usually coincide with allergy season.

            “Paralysis-to-50k” training plan is underway!

SRD for me.  Raced a 5k-ish as part of a summer cross country series last night.  Finished 4th, first old guy - winner was miles ahead, 2 and 3 were in striking distance the whole time but I shifted from "striking mode" to "survival mode" at about 2.5 miles.  Hurt a lot, so I probably gave it the right effort.  Beautiful evening, had a nice cool down run with a friend.

QOTD:  100% up.  I hate the wind and the noise from windows down.

Nothing for me, knees alittle sore from last weekend effort so I'll think I'll give it the rest of the week.

QOTD: Windows down, even in dead of winter the window are cracked open. Probably a hold over habit from my smoking days.

                LB2

I ran 5 before daybreak. It was nice, but it was muggy. The weather guy said the humidity was low; I guess the actual weather missed the memo.

QOTD: Down here, you better have A/C. I dread getting in my truck after work. It is a short drive, and I don't really get cooled off until I get in the driveway at the house. Sometimes it is so hot that you just instantly get pissed off. I hate being hot. I have one of those things for the windshield to keep the sun from just totally heating everything to the brink of spontaneous combustion, but I rarely use it.

8 miles last night on the trails of Warwick Park, including a 5k trail race. The Lady went with me and ran some warmup/cooldown miles. There are some nice folks that put on this trail series and they watch her for me while the race is taking place. The Lady is very popular there, and looks forward to the post race cookies. I pretty much nailed my plan not to race this all out since I have a 100 next weekend and did not want to do anything stupid. I did run at comfortably hard effort to start (I could talk) and tried to pick it up some after the big climb in the second mile. Very small race, and I picked off 2 runners in the second half of the race moving from 6th to 4th, with a time of 23:34. About 45 seconds slower overall than last month but that was sort of the plan.

QOTD: Mix of both. I tend to start off with the windows down but often put them back up. Though a lot of times, the dogs enjoy poking their head out, so I will roll them halfway down.

Gator - How did your race go?

DigDug - Funny how that survival mode kicks in during the 5k. I caught 2 yesterday, but only because I started slower I think, and the one HS kid was fading bad.

In dog beers, I've only had one.

                    Keep Going

Morning guys! Got 6 miles in last night running hills. I normally speed hike the steep stuff but these were 100 footers so since they were short I decided to actually run them doing repeats and man those little suckers can kick your ass!

Mandy - Damn 96 is nasty hot! Like dripping down your back as you stand there conversing with others kinda hot!

DigDug - Congrats! Old guys rule!

Taper - Congrats as well on 4th! And good luck at Mohican

QOTD: Windows up usually unless it's one of those beautiful early spring or late fall Northeast days that have that chill in the air.

                      100 milers are my favorite

Xtreme- all I got is this phone till Friday and my fat fingers and this little keypad don't get along. I'll get something wrote up on Friday.

the short version is it went well and I even got a little money towards my next pair of shoes.

6.38 this am with the mutts.  Only event was I saw the tan dog at the end of the trail.    He's not dangers but he's also not nice.  He attacked Earl before now I have Earl and Jack so I yell hello to warn them I am hear and then the dog started running towards us.  The owner called him back (guess dog listen to Dad but not Mom).  So made my heart beat...at least I am alive.

QOTD:  Window down top off (have a jeep).  Really hot may turn air on my feet.  OK I think I did that once.  My look is wild curly hair so wind helps not hinders.

Well my little vacation is over as I'll be starting a new job on Monday. Did some on-line apps and sending resumes to a few decent sounding jobs and a few throw away jobs but had one circled that I really kinda wanted. Interviewed for it yesterday and they formally offered a couple hours later. So I guess a real job for awhile. It will impact some of my plans but I really can't complain as I have had it made for quite some time.

Did a 7.5 miler on some trails west of town and after dinner there will be some road biking. Heading north tomorrow afternoon for my last 3 day weekend and it will be at least 15 degrees cooler than Madison. Thankfully.

QOTD--Puttzing around town or local I'll have both the windows open and the A/C on but on the highway it's time to close the windows and have some quiet.
