Great article, thanks for sharing. I get so jealous when I hear that ppl qualify for Boston at their first marathon. But --- I know that my years of training will be worth it when I finally DO BQ!
It makes me regret not taking care of my body and getting so out of shape.
Awesome
This remarkable story doesn't really make me dwell on my genetic deficiencies or envy here abilities. It makes me regret not taking care of my body and getting so out of shape. The contrast is amazing. I trained, as a beginning runner, for 15 months, and ran Richmond in 4:16. She didn't train, and ran it in 3:19.

Yep, Tucson is on that list, although the course has changed a bit. 4 days to go...
This is a true story... I know this woman who ran Richmond as her first marathon. She didn't train for it. I think she decided to run it within 2 weeks of race day. Her longest run beforehand was a half marathon race. She is a tennis coach and in good physical shape. She is also a good runner. She has run 2 local halfs that I know of, one in 1:32, the other in 1:34. She completed Richmond in 3:19, beating here BQ time by 20 minutes. The next day she was at work giving tennis lessons.
