Change in armswing (Read 172 times)

I made a funny observation about my barefoot running,  my arms don't swing nearly as much as while shod.   Didn't notice this at first.  I have no idea if this means I am more tense or if maybe my balance is different, anybody else notice anything similar?

Running (and walking) is basically controlled falling in repetition - and your arms are used to balance and propel yourself.

If you take shorter strides, your arms don't need to swing as much (probably one reason that you use less energy with a shorter stride but higher leg turnover rate?) - compare running to walking and you'll notice your arms swing even less.

Well, I can think of a few people whose arms don't, but in general...
