Lord of the Manor
Sorry I haven't been around here much lately. Where were we?
it's June. The year is 5/12 finished, and what do we have to show for it? I did a half marathon back in May. Went a little slower than last year, but I know why I was slow, and have plenty of time to fix that before my Fall half in October. Mileage is around where I want it to be - I'm hanging around the 35 miles per week range at the moment.
How's your running going? Have you done any races lately, or do you have any coming up?
If I could make a wish I think I'd pass
Hi Bob!
My last race was the NJ Marathon which I did in 5:38:50..Just hit the lottery for NYCM..will be starting Hidgons' Novice Marathon 2 at the end of the month..
Congratulations on winning the NYCM lottery, Irishguy. That'll give you something to train for through the Summer and Fall. I foresee many miles.
Hi guys!
Where were we? Running, I think!
I PR'd in the New Jersey Marathon, 3:42:15. It was a 10 minute PR and I now have a 12:45 cushion for Boston, which I think should be enough to get in, even with the higher anticipated demand. I was hoping for 3:35, but am not there yet. Then Memorial Day weekend I ran the Vermont City Marathon for fun, finished in 3:57:07. For someone that ran her first ever sub-4 last October, it was a shock and quite pleasant surprise that I could pick up the pace at the end and go sub-4. I'm running Hatfield McCoy marathon this coming weekend, also just for fun. I decided a few months ago to try to run a marathon in all 50 states by age 50. I turn 46 in July, and NJ, VT and WV this weekend will only bring me up to 15 states. So I've got a bit more running to do. I'll take a bit of a break over the summer, but am planning on getting CO, NY, DE, IN, NV and possibly ID by the end of the year.
I've also thrown in some shorter races, and am trying to ride my bike more. I'm considering a cycling time trial race later this month and a sprint tri in July. I need more weekends and less week! Although with all the racing I've been doing, I feel like I'm sleeping in during the work week since I've been getting up early every weekend to race.

Wow! I got tired just reading about all of that racing, A.G. There's some significant fitness gains. Congratulations on that!

Sub - 6:00 mile is very impressive, Dan.
Bob- Good luck on your training for your fall half!
Irishguy- Congrats on getting into NYCM!
AG- Holy cow! Happy marathoning!
Dan- Super fast, WTG!
As for me, I'm finally on the comeback from patellar tendonitis. I think what happened was I didn't take any recovery after my 10 mile race in March, even though it was a new distance for me *and* my plan only called for a 10K. I figured my HM taper would take care of any issues. Wrong! But the good news is that if I keep up with my exercises, I should end up being better off in the end, right? I'm hoping to hit 20 miles this week for the first time since my half.
Glad to hear you're healing Zelanie!
That's good news Zelanie.
I started a team thread on RWOL the other day. Nobody's chimed in there. My sense is that most of our runners are here, or they just post their miles and don't interact a lot. Miles Game has been pretty sluggish lately as to all teams. I think the dispersion of people between RWOL, RunningAhead, and Facebook doesn't help with that.
For this week we're missing posts from jedigunnie26.2, ktsmitty21, runningviolamom, runnva, and You gonna eat that?
How's everyone's running going? I did 40 miles last week, which is about where I want to be. I have not run a full 26.2 in this running career (ran one in 1981 - but that is ancient history now). I am beginning to consider doing a full marathon in the Fall of 2014, about 16 months from now. To help get ready for that possibility I am going to try to incorporate a handful of 50+ mile weeks in my training over the next several months, to see if my body can handle that kind of mileage.
Don't forget to post your miles.
Last week was a cutback. My IT band didn't like the 30 I did the previous week. Saturday was a very solid 5k at 20:14.
We are missing posts from gottagitgoin, jedigunnie26.2, ktsmitty21, runningviolamom, and You gonna eat that? jedigunnie26.2 and ktsmitty21 are listed as three-week non-posters. Which means they will get thrown out of the game if they don't post this week. C'mon guys!
and Dan - hope the cutback is helping with the IT band problems.
Low week this week, start training for NYCM in 2 weeks.
