2011 Redding (CA)
There is a nice article on Scott Jurek, one of the greatest ultra-marathoners of all time, in the April 2010 issue of Runner's World (pp 83-91). It shows the human side of a man often thought to be super-human. Some of you will remember his story in the best-seller book titled Born to Run.
I, for one, hope Scott Jurek continues to run for many years to come. He has, while dominating long-distance races, been very supportive of athletes with lesser abilities and a good role model for young people.
Like the article says "... at Western States, there is only one human being who can sustain a 9:20 pace for 100 miles. His name is Scott Jurek ..."

Scott Jurek is "King" once again ... setting a new American record in the 24-Hour World Championships held in Brive, France, on May 13-14, 2010.

He ran 165.70 miles in a 24-hour period ... placing 2nd, roughly 4 miles behind the winner. But in the process, he demolished the American record for this event. His pace was approximately 8:42 per mile.
Congratulations Scott.
A nice article about Scott.

Not a lot of new material, but a nice overview nonetheless. He is in a very mentally-tough sport (ultra running).
