2011 Redding (CA)
With so much attention being focused these days on Dathan Ritzenhein and Alberto Salazar ... I thought you might like a few links to the Nike Oregon Project (track team).
Nike Oregon Project (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nike_Oregon_Project)
Alberto Salazar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alberto_Salazar) Jerry Schumacher (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerry_Schumacher) Kara Goucher (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kara_Goucher) Adam Goucher (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam_Goucher) Galen Rupp (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galen_Rupp) Josh Rohatinsky (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josh_Rohatinsky) Amy Yoder Begley (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amy_Yoder_Begley) Matt Tegenkamp (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matt_Tegenkamp) Dathan Ritzenhein (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dathan_Ritzenhein)
Alan Webb (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Webb_%28athlete%29)
Mo Farah (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mo_Farah)
This is a very impressive group of athletes and coaches. It will be fun to follow their races within the coming years.
2011 Redding Marathon (CA), 2011 Yakima Marathon (WA), 2011 Eugene Marathon (OR), 2011 Newport Marathon (OR)
2011 Pacific Crest Marathon (OR), 2011 Smith Rock Summer Classic Half (OR), 2011 Haulin' Aspen Trail Half (OR)
2011 Running is for the Birds 10Km (OR), 2011 Sunriver Marathon (OR)
Interesting article ...

especially for those who followed Pre while he was alive. Galen might be faster, but Pre was quite something in his day. A very gifted runner who had a tremendous desire to win.
This is a very nice article on Alberto Salazar ... and the Nike Oregon Project. It is very hard to argue with the success this program has had.

These are exciting times for American distance runners.
This is a nice article from Running Times on Amy Yoder Begley (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amy_Yoder_Begley),
a member of the Nike Oregon Project.

After years of health issues, she appears to be a rising star among American female distance runners.
Ritz and Rupp are off to Scotland in January 2011:

Rupp is set to run "down-under":

Rupp might be running in the NYC Half Marathon this month ...

which is an interesting switch.
Nike just picked up another elite runner:

What a great addition to the group of runners being coached by Alberto Salazar. And he is "thinking about" the marathon in the year 2012.
A very good showing by Mo Farah and Galen Rupp in the 2011 New York City Half Marathon:

Ryan Hall was well off the pace. We'll have to see how he does at Boston in several weeks. With "advice" from the legendary Jack Daniels, Ryan is now his own coach. Time will tell how well that works at the elite level.
I'm not sure about the "focus" of this article ...
http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/london-2012-olympics-blog/2011/mar/29/alberto-salazar-mo-farah-olympics
... but it seems to laud the efforts of Mo Farah and Alberto Salazar.
Alan Webb is leaving Alberto Salazar
http://trackfocus.com/distance/alan-webb-leaving-the-oregon-project#
in search of running partners. Guess we all like to train with others part of the time.
Another very good member for the Nike Oregon Project:

Jackie Areson has a nice college resume.
Another runner leaves the Nike Oregon Project ...

and Alberto Salazar. None other than Kara Goucher announced a change several weeks ago.
Hmmmmm ...

why wait so long to make that decision? The Trials are this weekend.
