2011 Redding (CA)
Kara Goucher "rocks" at the 2009 Chicago Half-Marathon. Beat everyone ... including the men.

One of the very bright spots for American marathoners ... and a good bet to win gold at the World Championships in Berlin (in the middle-distances). Her coach is ... Alberto Salazar.
Here is a link to a rather complete biography of Kara Goucher.

A very interesting interview ... conducted by Matt Fitzgerald.

Kara Goucher is a mentally-tough athlete ... and a delightful person to listen to. I can't wait for her to win a major marathon in the coming years.
Kara has been out of the news lately ... but here is an update on her plans to become a Mom.

More and more of the elite female distance runners are starting (raising) families while staying on top of their sport. A very hard task indeed.
Imminent Catastrophe

<sexist comment>
You think she can do that pushing a stroller?
</sexist comment>
Well, it's not really sexist since I see more guys than girls pushing strollers.

Boston 2011 is closed ... so I wonder if they'll let her in (humor).
Kara will hit the roads this weekend

in the Rock-n-Roll Arizona Half-Marathon.
It sounds like Kara is ready to go:

She is one tough competitor.
This is interesting.

I wonder who will be her new coach.
Kara changed coaches because of "accountability"?
http://karagoucher.competitor.com/2011/10/23/change-is-hard/
Alberto is a hard task master ... so I would rather think it was for "training partners". Heck, Jerry is Alberto's assistant and heir-apparent, so Kara is really within the same (Nike) system.
But I agree with her that change is often good. Seven years under the same coach (Alberto) is a long time. Jerry likely has different motivational speeches (humor).
