Maybe to much info for some but here are the 5 day splits for ATY. I am not sure why the computer forces in a last split some times. 119:52:02 in this scenario

I can only immagine your feet ... did you take any pictures?
Something strange happened late(ish) into the race. At hour 36 I went to get another blister taped on the bottom (ball) of my foot. When I took my shoes off, my feet were BRIGHT red. Everywhere. And they were very, very hot to the touch. It looked and felt just like a sunburn. The whole medical staff came over to look at them. When you pressed the skin, it turned white, just like with a burn. Most of them were unfamiliar with running, and were EMTs. They had no idea what it was. I had the same pair of leg sleeves on all race, so they suggested that I take them off to help the circulation.
MTA: I forgot about that break. I took the sleeves off, got in my bag on the ground (I didn't brink a tent to avoid too much temptation to sleep), and propped my feet on a chair for 10 minutes. (Then got so cold from not moving that I started shaking violently, tried to get hot coffee, but spilled it all over my gloves and shoes when shaking. Juli Aistars husband got me more and held it for me, then helped me find new gloves. He is great.)

Best Present Ever
Thanks for the photos. What on earth causes the bright red rash?
Jesus Christ.
I need to ask Trent. It was funny though because it had a very defined line. As if it was the opposite of getting a sunburn while wearing socks or shoes.
I'm glad I had my lunch prior to seeing those pics. Yikes!
Just another example of why you are one tough and determined runner.
Still won't help you beat me in the beer mile.

Maybe some reaction to your laundry detergent?
Refurbished Hip
Nice feet, WG. Mine came pretty close to that after spending 15 hours in soaking wet mud, but still not that bad. And the best part about that many/severe blisters, is that you'll get to deal with them for the next month or two. Did you wear gaiters?
Running is dumb.
WG I got a little excited about the pictures -- I thought we were going to see your ass! And it was only your feet.
If the skin was bright red and blanched it isn't a circulatory problem. More likely a reaction either to the socks, shoes, or mild abrasive properties of both. Were your feet itchy?
I will unscientically agree that it looks like some sort of allergic reaction and given the localization probably from sock or shoe although it could even be from something you are sweatiNg out getting trapped in your socks.
So, yes to gaiters, and probably yes to a reaction with the sock.
My normal sock causes blisters. Not in everyday training of course. So for this race I went with a thin pair of injinji liners and another thin pair of socks on top of that. I bought another pair of "anti-friction" socks to try. About 34 hours into the race is what time to relube the feet (again), and changed I to the anti-friction sock. Trent thinks it is a reaction to the elastic throughout the sock and my sweat. He described it as being a bit like poison ivy. I still have blotches and areas of bumps (on the back of my feet where blisters formed with those socks), but it isn't as bad as yesterday.
Also, I had a missing toenail, but I also cut my nails down as low as I could get them. In the pics you will also see they are pretty dirty. The big toenail isn't yellow, it is caked with dust from the path that got in.
I can't stop looking at the feet. UGGGLY! How many of the toenails were black BEFORE the race?
You are so doomed to horrible looking feet after vol state!!!
Bwah-haha-haha!!!
