SRL ran 50k last year and took second overall he got chicked
I got chicked for sure. She currently holds the female course record.
I currently hold the male course record.
The clock is winding down on that record, though. (mine, not hers)
BTW, Rainier to Ruston is a tiny little thing... and as noted, the last 31 miles (aka, the 50k course) are paved bike trail and road.
Except for the dastardly hard "through the ditch" miles which gumbee doesn't remember. I do. I fell face first into the brown waters several times. Ewww.
You should just reply instead of modifying your original post. Now anyone new that looks at the thread will have no idea what we are all babbling on about. Training for the downhill is a good idea... that can beat you up.

Ah, that explains that.
Rainier to Ruston is definitely downhill but it is not typical trail runner downhill. No siree. It is very gentle. But do it for 6-10 hours, and you will hurt. Oh yes.
Good Bad & The Monkey
what is the big rush?
Well, the world is gonna end in 12/12, for one.
I'm running somewhere tomorrow. It's going to be beautiful. I can't wait.

So you are saying Aspiring should train for Apocalypse Monkey? I concur.
I want to do it because I want to do it. -Amelia Earhart
You cannot train for Monkey.

Fact.

"I don't see much sense in that," said Rabbit. "No," said Pooh humbly, "there isn't. But there was going to be when I began it. It's just that something happened to it along the way."”
advice taken about changing the post name.
thanks for the info about training. i am in no rush, and realize i need a better base, but i'll be out running everyday anyway so i thought it would be a good idea to have an end goal, something to shoot for. in case i lose track of why i am really running.
dare i ask what apocalypse monkey is?
Just Trent being a freak. You'll get used to it.
