Venting:  No dirt for 5 and a half months.  14 feet of snow.  Two days above freezing in the last 3 months.  Hamstrings tweaking every run due to no traction and slipping.  No quality runs.  Road with no shoulders, slush, salt and crazy drivers!  ARRRRRGGGGGGH

Not as bad down here in Illinois.  Finally got on the bike trails this week (gravel as wide as roads).  But, first week I probably could have got a long run on single track locally, where do I go?  Sturgeon Bay, WI.  At least I could run on the roads but I would like some single track please sir.

MTA - how is XC skiing for a workout?  I remember when I was up there for the 50 that it seemed like the most popular sport period.

XC is great for all around fitness, and low impact.  I've actually been skiing for about 5 months here this year.  But it's not good for toughening up to the pounding of running which is harder and harder as I age.  I swear the Hokas are perfect for old guys like me.
