Lizzie, early vacation mode sounds about right.

Damaris, people without kids shouldn't be allowed to leave before 5? Wow. Just wow.

Back to work. It's still 70+ out there so I will run after the hockey game (8pm).

Kilmisters - 70 degrees for you!  Is that typical weather?  I am laughing at your signature with your race sign ups!!!

Kat - What is happening with your job???

Judy - What is happening with your foot/toe?

I have been reading when I can, just have had a lot of busyness!

Quick version of a RR on Pittsburgh Marathon:

First off let me say, I loved everything about this race!  The expo was decent size, they did a lot of fun things for picture opportunities.  Because it was the National Championship for half marathon they had about 30 elite runners.  Pretty cool. The women’s Olympic Gold medal winner for Triathlon (Gwen Jorgenson) was there.  One of the elite men commented in an interview about the “challenging” course.

Weather not great, but could have been much worse, rain was predicted,  ended up waiting till the end.  Was very humid 80+%, temp high 50’s.

I ran with RB.  We were doing good, but I could tell by about mile 9 she was having an off day.  Then came the BFH (big f’ing hill)...from about 10 thru 11 1/2, this really took a toll.  About 17 she was really tanking, told me to go ahead.  I didn’t.  We were doing 5:1 walk break at that point.  About mile 24 she was having back spasms and hard time getting a deep breath.  We finally worked thru it and finished in 5:25.  PW for me.  I felt great the whole times, just felt bad for RB.

Soooo, I will probably looking for a Fall marathon...anyone have any planned???

          Rest day for me!

Slept so good last night! I am getting antsy...antsy for a RACE.

Last double digit tomorrow. Going to be nice and HUMID. It is a MP run so I am interested to see how I do. Glad it will not be a 2:30am wakeup call.  I woke up with some shin splints this morning. Weird...if they are still bothering me tomorrow I will just run the run easy. I am hoping they are just taper niggles.

I dont want to beeee heerrreeeeeee (at work haha Smile )

Laura – Nice miles! What day are you on now? Crossing my fingers that the new nurse works out!!

Diane – Sorry about the DH issues! If I want something done, I tend to just do it myself!

Karen – Okay, that is beyond awesome that the running store is willing to support your running group like that. WOW. I wish I could join!! So cool. Oh yes, going grocery shopping while hungry never ends well. I have one more MP run and next weeks speedwork is minimal. We used to use the Keurig all the time..but each of us drink about 3 cups every morning..so easier to just have a pot of coffee! LOL at your DH and being sick..HCBF is the SAAAMMEEEE. I need to go watch this Fargo video! SO EXCITEEEEDDDDD!!!

Run4kupcakes – Nice run yesterday!! You had a good carb load for lunch  Smile  I really want an espresso machine!!! I would also love the opportunity to do 4 10’s!

Docket – Nice job on that distance challenge yesterday. Wonder how you did so well!? WinkYAY for outside miles!

Tessa – Oh my! Hang in there!! Nice job squeezing the miles in. Maybe treadmill since AZ is so freaking hot?

Kilmisters – Hope you had a good day! Maybe a beer run is in order on the way home?

Carol – Congratulations on Pittsburgh!!! Is the Philly and Pitts marathon the same weekend? I kept getting confused at which one you were doing. I am sorry that your RB was having an off day..really sweet of you to hang back with her  Smile . Impressive that you felt good the entire time considering those temps! EW is all I have to say about that. Fall marathon…uh RICHMOND??? Smile  I am doing Twin Cities and Richmond.

          Happy Thursday!

          October 4 - Milwaukee, WI - 26.2

          November 14 - Richmond, VA - 26.2

          March 21 - Virginia Beach, VA - 26.2

            Happy Thursday!

Elina-there will be time to enjoy the game if it's a slow death. LOL Have a great day at work! Can you give the specific groups deadlines for their requests and let them know that if they miss their window of time they will have missed their window of time.

Carol-Glad that you had a great race experience and good for you helping your friend to finish. December in Houston for Brazos Bend. RunWoodstock in September.

Lizzie-I hear ya on the lost socks... what amazes me is when they are bright pink and still get lost.

Judy-hope you received good news on your feet!

Sandy-50 doesn't sound old.. at least not when one turns 55. LOL Don't worry about what you want to be when you "grow up"... enjoying being what you are at the moment. Taking time to identify what you like about it and what you don't like.. then look for ways to do more of what you do like. It will all work out. And I'm sure that you have areas in your life where your shit is together. Focus on those and you'll be surprised how the others start to follow suit. :-)  WTG on the driveway crossfit! Have fun with your guests!

Sue-funny about DF with allergies. They do change but I don't know why one would want to test it out.

Karen-you are the CEO (chair executive officer) with the speedwork.

Cathy-sounds smart on the elliptical choice.

Kathryn-glitter eyeliner! You go girl!! The song No Roots by Alice Merton had me thinking of you the first time I heard it..and of a part of me.

Diane-that was an inconvenience for you with the vet trip but done and over with. Not worth the aggravation or wasted energy. but is worth making sure that the next time he has all the information so that he can use time in a way that helps you both.

Tessa-summer time and no school! almost here!

Anyone happen to know someone in Amsterdam that dd and her friend could spend one night with? They are staying in hostels and airbnb's but having a hard time finding one that is "affordable" there. The whirlwind starts on the 17th. Not in order but they will be going to Berlin, Frankfort, Krakow, Prague, Amsterdam, Barcelona, London, Paris, Rome, Milan, Florence, Venice... I think I hit the all. Backpacking all the way. Trains and buses with a couple of flights too. Most timed so that they can sleep on the bus/train and save on lodging for those nights. the month's worth of lodging and transportation will be about $1500 for her. PM me if you do happen to know of somewhere they could stay along the way.

Been icing and resting knee. Movement doesn't hurt. It's tight feeling and extremely painful when touched/bumped or clothing presses against the area right above the knee. Doc says it's the bursa sack that is holding most of the fluid and no magic but time for it to dispel. Could drain but likely it would come back until it's all settled down. Not crazy about that answer but is what I'm hearing from others and Dr. Google. It's always tough for me to gauge improvement. Is it improving or am I just getting more accustomed to it? LOL Confident that it will eventually get better. Pinelands still on for the 50k and I'm about to sign up for Run Woodstock 100k in September now that I have my volunteer voucher. Long way off and this isn't a structural injury. Really, it hasn't even been two full weeks. It will improve!

Thanks for the Birthday wishes too! dc hand delivered a dozen roses to me work from his work nearly an hour away. DD and I had dinner out that night, just the two of us. On Tuesday, dd, dc and I went to dinner and a musical for my bday. Was a little awkward at first but all good. All that's left on the legal end is signatures and court entry. Wording on everything has been approved No idea when final stuff will be but the uncertainty of non-agreement is done and the final steps are as close as the next week or so. has felt done for so long that I sometimes have to remind self that its officially not. Only the future holds more happiness than what I have right now. Wishing that for all of you too!

            Lisa

3.4 windy miles for me this morning.  Still nice to be out there!

              Elina - enjoy the game!

Lizzie - wow, I didn't realize your next marathon was so close!!  Good luck with the run tomorrow and I hope your shins behave!!

Carol - great job!  Was your RB the lady I've met (Jenny)?  Glad you felt good throughout!

Lisa - what is your DD doing for texting/communication while in Europe?  Sounds like she is going to have a great time!!  Glad you had a nice birthday...and who is DC?  Did I miss something??

              Mighty Mouse

Great news from the doc! He said in 1 more week the toe will feel a whole LOT better.

He wrapped the toe in a more comfortable wrap. Bandage sticks to itself, not the toe. Much more comfortable. I've also wrapped the 3 middle toes this morning.

Bruised foot will color up soon.

Then I see how the foot will tolerate the running shoe. If it does, at 3 weeks from the break/accident I can try running.

I should put the shoe on in the morning and run because the foot will swell later in the day.

Foot will keep swelling for 3 months and that is going to happen as part of healing process.

Running will not be the cause of the swelling so keep running.

These docs help a lot to keep a 75 year old woman running.

                Safe and happy runs, All!

                Where is the "any" key?

                Former Bad Ass

Morning.  I regret having run outside after OTF since today my heel is not happy.  And the shoes I wore didn't help.  Glad I'm seeing the massage therapist today so he can make it feel better.  I have 8 with 8 X 100m and Pilates tonight.

Elina, yeap. That's him.  Enjoy the late run.

                  Carol, glad you had fun!

Liz, enjoy the rest and good luck with the last digit run tomorrow!

Lisa, I know no one in Amsterdam that can help but I can send her to a place where we paid $100 in parking for one night, if she wants to do that. Wink

                  Laura, nice run.

                  Judy, woohoo!  One more week!

                  Damaris

5 miles this morning.  Not any faster, but it did feel better. Progress maybe, but I will take it.

I've been trying to watch the snacking and I am down a couple of pounds. Woohoo!!! I think it also has to affect water retention for me. So I wore my skinny t-shirt dress today to celebrate!!

Yay Judy--glad the toe is healing.

                    Tessa--omg 104F???Indoor treadmill!!!

Our quilt guild show is this weekend.  I'm in charge....pick up quilt stands today, set up tomorrow, show on Saturday.  DF is helping.  Wish me luck.

DF is starting to perk up. Better living through chemistry. told you so told you so told you so

                    Have a great day!!

                    Seloc

Just under 5 awkward shuffling miles for me.  Ditched all of the RBs so adjusted my route as to not run into 3 different groups.  Still saw these two walkers but I don’t know them all that well so more of a just hello.  OMG airfare from MSP is so cheap right now (I think because Jet Blue just came to town) I’m trying to find a weekend to go to Boston.  I’ve never been and can get direct flights from $102!

I was planning to make some toffee last night for my sister for her birthday so I stopped at the grocery on my way home.  Of course I forget the darn sugar!  Hate when I do that.  So back to the store this morning and will make it tonight.

Tessa – man, you’ve been busy!  OMG that’s HOT.  Hope you were able to get out this morning.  Thanks for the well wishes at Fargo.  We have one more week to stress and worry and get excited.

Damaris – I would melt in those temps.  Especially now without being acclimated.  Nice job at OTF!!  OMG on your boss.  I would be PISSED.  Maybe tell them Trixie is your kid?  Haha  Yikes on the heel pain, hope the massage therapist can fix you right up!

HCK – nice speedy run!  Yep for sure the dessert helped.

Man, I don’t think I could do 4 10s.  That is a long time to be at work!

Karen – yesterday I watched the race course preview at work so I had the sound off.  After you posted that yesterday I went back and watched parts of it again so I could hear them talking.  LOL kinda cheesy haha.  Caught the nice northern accent, too.  I’ll be sure to extra vacuum your room and lock the cat out!  He is not one to typically be super social so it would realllllly strange for him to jump up on anyone.  He’s more likely to remain hidden when you guys are there but you never know.  That’s so great that the running store is so excited for your group!  Haha on buying all the snacks.

Kat – tattoos, purple hair and glittery eyeliner sounds awesome!  You rock.  I wish you were going to Fargo, too!  That’s great you have 6 weeks of severance.  Any plans for that time?  Well, I mean, I imagine look for a job.  But, will you do anything fun?  That’s almost the rest of the summer!  You can always come visit meeeeeeee.  Oh, yeah, and my Austin friend said I could take her car Mon/Tues if you wanted me to come down.  Lots of options!!

Elina – omg your cake and Coke was lunch?!  I would been bouncing off the walls.  Until the crash, that is.  Ooof, that is warm to run in so early in the season.  Nice job getting it done.  Oh oh, you mean USA will beat Latvia?

Lizzie – prescriptions are always so hard to navigate.  Especially when they change everything year to year it seems.  Sorry for the extra $$.  Yes, you are right, I’m going to start calling those bootcamp workouts!  The legs sure felt all that jumping.  Whew.  I was thinking this morning, only 3 more runs – eeps!  I’m shooting for anywhere between 9 and 12 for Saturday.  Sorry it’s going to be so humid for you.  Good plan to take it easy if it is!

Laura – nice morning miles!  Makes such a difference.  Hope your nurse works out!  You’ve been solo for too long, it seems.

Carol – congrats on the marathon!!  You are a GREAT RB sticking through to the end.  Stinks when the other person isn’t feeling great – you feel so bad!  I am all up in the air for fall.

Lisa – hey thanks for the words of encouragement.  Really.  I need more positive people like you in my life!  Sorry the knee is not healing as fast as you would like.  Sounds like a marvelous birthday!  You exude happiness from your fingertips and I love it.  That sounds like an amazing awesome trip for DD!  Man, wish I knew some folks but I even scrolled through my FB connections and I got nothing.  Sorry!

Judy – hooray for great news on the toe!!  And back to running soon!!

Sue – congrats on the lbs lost and morning miles.  Good luck with the quilt show!

                      Later!

                      Trails

It's been 4 days since Heartland and I've had to deal with the horse for 3 of those days and thus no walking exercise and I'm about to go crazy.  I started this 3 years ago to help deal with some issues I was having with DH but never thought it would worm itself under my skin like it has.  Finally got Jacob's ear mostly cleaned out so will do my run tonight.  I may also go up at lunch and ride the bike thingee at the gym.

Lisa, I tell him a week in advance then remind him daily if I need something.  He's the one who told me on Sunday Jacob's ear was kind of bloody.  He works in Vinita where they actually have a grocery and other things I work at the opposite and so if I need something he has to get it OR go home right after work and let the dogs out.  One of us has to do that as they are locked up all day.  It's usually me.  Over and done with.

Carol that was so nice of you sticking with your RB.  Lisa got me through my first trail marathon and I bless her for that. Congratulations on the race.

Sue, if I don't snack almost constantly I get a headache.  My metabolism runs really fast, thank goodness. Glad that DF is doing better.  After being outside for the past few days I broke down and took a couple of Benadryl then I dreamt I was doing the Box of Rocks with Kat...lol.

                        Elina, Go Lativia...

Damaris as if people w/o kids don't have a life...what a douche. Congrats on the OTF win.

Lizzie the only thing nearby is a convenience store, the casino, the bldg. I work in and a Dollar General.  Rural OK is very rural.  If I want something like Rice Milk (I don't do dairy) then I have to go to Walmart which puts it at a 50 min trip from work to Vinita to home, a big loop.

                        Laura nice miles

Yay Judy, hope you can run real soon.

OMG I love No Roots!  I like Kate Flay too.

I've got to get busy so I'll say Hi!

                        RTurtles

                        Running with the Turtles

5 for me this morning.  Cool, breezy and drizzly.  Nice for running,  but the old legs were just tired!    The temps are starting to cool down, it's only supposed to be a high of 42 tomorrow!  Then more rain comes in.  It looks like our 5K trail race on Saturday will be in the rain!

Elina, enjoy the hockey game!    DD's team won her 2nd floor hockey match and she scored a goal.  She mentioned this morning that she plans to be very aggressive in gym class today.    You stopped mid run to get beer?

Carol, that is awesome that you were there to support your friend!  I am sure she really appreciates you!  Yay for Gwen Jorgensen.  She is from my town.

Lizzie, good luck on the long run!  I'm hoping the shin splints are nothing.  That is usually the case for you, you complain about something and the next day you have a great run.    You are in such great shape, it's not even funny.    Seriously though, these training cycles are tough and you are getting through them.  That is something!

Lisa, I do not know anyone in Amsterdam.  It sounds like it will be an awesome trip!  Hoping your knee continues to get better!  Yes, tell us more about DC!

Laura, it has been awesome to run outside in the morning!

Judy, glad that you got great news from the doc!

Damaris, hope the heel improves by tonight!  Congrats on winning the OTF challenge.

Sue, I am a salty snacker and you are probably right about water retention.  Great that you are seeing results!  Good luck on the quilt show!    Glad DF is feeling better.

Sandy, I felt like I was shuffling this morning!    Boston is awesome!  I've been out there a lot since my brother is there.  Freedom Trail, Salem, Walden Pond, so many things to do.  Haha, I am the queen of going to the store and forgetting the most important thing.  I think there should be an app where you can put in the items from the store that you need to pick up.  Then when you walk by an item on your list in the aisle it should beep at you.  If you leave the store without buying any items on your list then it would alert you.     Normally I hate the elliptical, but the app does make the time go fast.  There were a lot of intervals with some short tabata style ones at the end; 8 reps of 20 seconds on, 10 seconds off. Woohoo.  I am not really "tuned" for elliptical, so it's hard work for me.  I am a sweaty mess when I'm done.

Diane, I hope you have the horse issues behind you!

                          Hi Tessa!  Hang in there!

Kupcakes, I'm glad the speedwork went well!

Karen, I think you can afford a rest day.    Haha, never shop when you are hungry!  I did that with DD last night while she was hungry, oh the things she snuck into the cart...  The Motion Traxx app makes the time on the elliptical go fast.  That's really saying something.  I hate that thing.

Kat, biking seems like more work than running?    6 weeks of severance is great!  They haven't informed everyone yet?  That happened with DH's last place of employment.  They were going to close down but were taking their time letting people know.  Leads to a lot of pissed off people.

                          Cathy

Cathy - hey there shufflin sistah!  Though I suspect your shuffle pace is my tempo and I'd be huffin and a puffin to keep up!  OMG, I LOVE your idea of an app that BEEPS at you when you pass something in the store.  Even with a list I swear I lap the dang thing three times!  I am NOT an efficient grocery shopper.  Why I despise it so haha.  Oh wow, that elliptical workout sounds TOUGH!  I'd for SURE be a sweaty mess as well.  Yeah, cold rain for us tomorrow, too.  Luckily it should move out for my run on Saturday.  Then I head to Dallas for a couple days where it looks like a steam bath!  Glad I only have to run a couple short ones down there.  Whew!  That DD of yours is a hoot.  I love her spunk!!

Diane - glad you got the horse's ear cleaned out.  You probably needed the rest anyway, I wouldn't sweat it.

Hey Hey Hey - it's a beautiful day! Okay, it's hot and the humidity is starting to rise, but I don't care. I'm happy. Evenings here are really nice, so the last few nights when Riley wants to go out and just lie in the grass and sniff the air, I've been going out with him and just hanging out in the backyard reading. When I impulse bought $100 of giant containers of snacks at Costco yesterday, I also saw this patio furniture and loved it. I didn't buy it mainly because it was three large boxes, and I had enough trouble getting the 50-lb bags of salt for the water softener in my car as it was. And because $1800 is kind of a lot for an impulse buy. I took a picture and showed it to DH and he liked it, so I'm thinking about ordering it online as an early birthday present for myself. The furniture we have isn't very comfortable so it's hammock or nothing.

Anyway, I ran 6 miles this morning. My ego has finally gotten used to the fact that I'm a lot slower than I was 5 years ago, but it still seems to have trouble with the summer slowdown.

Elina, is it wrong that I (and I'm probably not the only one here) would love to see Latvia win?

Carol, great job. I know you could have done a lot better if you'd ditched your friend, but since it was her first, it's good you stuck with her. Now you can build on your training and kick some major butt in the fall. I was looking at a marathon in Nebraska end of September and a 50 miler in Kansas in October as training runs IF I decide to do the 100 miler in December, but now Sandy has me intrigued with this low airfare out of MSP.....maybe Twin Cities after all?

Liz, watch the video if you get a chance. They posted it on their fb page. It looks like a really really nice course. I am now officially weather stalking - looks good, mostly cloudy and in the 50s when we're running! I am so excited. I should probably remind DH again that I'm leaving a week from today, I'm sure he's forgotten.

Lisa, your DD's trip sounds awesome. I'm jealous. Okay, i'm probably too old for a trip like that and would need a) hotel rooms, and b) a lot more time. But other than that, I'm jealous! Sounds like you had a great birthday week and woohoo to the new age group.

Hi Laura, nice running from you as usual. I don't even know what time it gets light in the mornings, are you able to run in daylight before work?

Judy, great news from the doc!

Damaris, that attitude makes me so mad. My bosses boss (the president of the association) at the place I was at for 6 years had that attitude. So unfair.

Susan, nice run and awesome on being down a few pounds. I've been really careful about what I've been eating since Boston and I'm down two pounds. Four to go. These giant containers of snacks from Costco + taper are not helping!

Sandy, nice shuffling this morning. I have gone to the grocery store for a week's worth of stuff and come home having missed one ingredient for almost every meal I planned to make.

Diane, you're probably starting to go stir crazy, but a few days off is probably not a bad idea. Sometimes I think I'd like to live in the middle of nowhere, then I realize how used to just running out to get one thing I've gotten. Not sure I'd want to deal with the advance planning and long trips. Then again, it would be nice to go out back and not see the neighbor kids over the fence jumping on the trampoline, or hear the people behind us out talking, or the other neighbors little dogs barking. All of which make Riley bark (he really like barking, so I he seems pretty happy in suburbia).

Cathy, nice shufflin' out there. Wow, high of 42 - I can't even imagine that right now.

Alright, lots to get done, so I better get to it. I need to do some cleaning, plus I've been procrastinating on putting together information to send to potential sponsors, even though I have examples and templates from other groups, so I need to get that done so I can start sending out. Especially to the guy that has said they will sponsor, just send the paperwork.

Karen you're right...walking up and down the hill to the barn isn't cutting it.  I did go to the gym at lunch and did 30 min on the recumbent bike.  School's out and the place was crawling with screaming little kids.  When I drive into Tulsa or even Joplin and have to deal with the traffic I remember why I like living where I can't see my neighbors.  Chuckie loves to bark and the rest of them like barking at the cows or the horses when they are down by the house.  Drives me nuts.
