Bright and Early Monday (Read 23 times)

    I'm first???

      Crazy busy weekend here.

I decided not to do the 5K on Saturday.  Probably smart move. I did drive over to pick up my race packet. Also probably a good thing,  I had not been over there lately, so it was good to remember how to get there and I got all my race stuff together Saturday evening so I didn't have to scramble Sunday morning.

Did Traditions in the Bay Tri (super sprint distance). I couldn't decide if the water was warm enough, so I wore my wet suit. I should have gone without--my arms were really worn out. Thankfully it was only 440 yard swim, and I probably could have touched the bottom if I needed.  11 mile bike ride went well, a little slower than I would have liked, but considering I have only ridden 6 MILES this year, I was ok with it. 2 mile run was also kinda a slow trot (10 minute pace) but I was happy with my time and it was good enough for a 3 AG finish.  Considering I have not really trained at all, I was happy.

Ann Marie's birthday party was yesterday afternoon.  Hard to believe she is already 1!  DD said a "small party"--Wow there must have been 30+ there, including at least a dozen babies and toddlers.  Ann Marie liked her cake and sort of opened presents.  I baked three strawberry layer cakes: one was three layers, one was two layers, and a small cake for Ann Marie.  I was glad I baked two big cakes--only about a quarter of the two layer cake was left.

Nice and warm here.  I wore a cute tank dress today--I STILL CAN'T FIND MY BOX OF SANDALS!!!!!! I'm wearing birks until I can find the magic box of shoes. I have looked everywhere. They must be in the house at the bottom of a box somewhere.

We all realized at one point this weekend that the weekend thread had very few posts because so many of us were all together and actually able to talk to each other! It was such an amazing weekend. I just love you all. As I sit here at Diane's house, I keep thinking about various things that happened. And now I want to go home and get my doggos. Myrtle Beach in 2020, yo!

I am still not sure of my fall racing plans, but after Myrtle Beach next year, I'll be running Boston. My goal for yesterday was a BQ-5, which is a 3:50. Then I got my bib number 345 and thought I should run a 3:45, but didn't really think I could - just wanted under 3:50. I would have been ecstatic with a 3:49:59. I ended up with a 3:46:32, one of the strongest and best marathons I've ever run. Fastest since my PR marathon in 2013. I gave it all I had mentally and physically. It was so hard not to slow down, walk, etc. towards the end, but unlike Fargo last year, when I asked myself how bad I wanted it and said "not that bad," this time I wanted it bad enough to fight through those strong urges to slow down. My left side was hurting starting at mile 3, but it didn't get much worse. I got a blister on the bottom of my right foot around mile 18, but just decided that at least that pain kept my mind off the left hamstring/glute. And at mile 24, when I just wanted to walk, I thought that at least I got to quit in 2 miles and not run another 70. Will do a race report as this was a fantastic marathon. Very pretty, mostly flat course.

I think this was the most epic FE I've been a part of. I miss you all already!!

It was an awesome weekend!  Hope I didn’t make you all dizzy with my talking Wink

I am heading back home. Ran the HM instead of the full because my foot was numb the whole time. It’s fine now 🙄.

Elina, great job on the trail race this weekend! I realized I hadn't really read your race report yesterday. Sounds like fantastic training for your marathon and you handled it well.

                Hi everybody.

Congratulations to each and every one of us on our races including those who aren't able to attend this weekend. I wish everyone could have been there this weekend but I miss you all and would love to meet all those I haven't yet. I know I was quiet but that is introverted me. It's great to be able to put a face to the user name finally .

I want to especially thank you all for waiting for me at the finish line. It was so appreciated. The words Sandy said to me when she hugged me meant more than she imagined. The hugs from everyone did too. And Laura is a great photographer. I actually liked that finish photo she took. Finish line photos of me always look awful.

My takeaways from the weekend are that I need to lose this added weight and restart my speed work. Also that I need to attend more FEs. When is the next one? Lol

In the meantime i'm not running one single step until Saturday because although my legs are a bit tired my toes are tender. I need to keep blisters in check.

                WINE o'clock somewhere!

At the airport now heading home as well.  I will get home about 10pm  Not too bad.

What a wonderful weekend, thank you everyone.  The race on Saturday was nice, finished slow, but that is OK, Lisa kept me going.  The race Sunday was nice as well.  It started out kinda gloomy, grey, and a bit chilly.  About an hour in, the sun came out and it was beautiful.  Had fun waiting with the ladies as more of those still out on the course came in.

Still stiff, had a hard time getting out of the van and Margaret teased me I am walking like a penguin.  She was spot on!!!

Enjoyed not being at work for the past 2 days.  Don't really want to go back.  No shocker there.

                  Happy Monday.

                    Welcome back, all of you!

Sunday Buddy and his daughter and I did 65 minutes (I interspersed some walking) out the trail. It’s always such fun when she is visiting and comes along.

This morning I did 20 minutes before I had to get off to errands. DC is off to a legal seminar and will be back on Wednesday. At least the run went better. It was effortless and that was my goal. Doc said I could start running today. (We won’t tell him about yesterday.)
                    Happy runs, All !

So glad you all had a great time this weekend! I enjoyed seeing the pictures on facebook.

                        Yay Karen! Really good BQ.

I look forward to reading more about the weekend. Myrtle Beach next year? Hmm. When is that?

And I would love to host an FE race either here in southern CA, or central CA, or maybe in eastern WA/Idaho. Coeur d'Alene, anyone? Spokane? I think we all need WA still...

Susan, chuckling about you in a tri where you could have hopped along the bottom of the water if you really wanted to. I can see someone doing that, and a billing of "the tri where you don't even need to know how to swim...depending on how tall you are".

Not sure what heat index is, Damaris. Combination of degrees and percentage of humidity? Not something we worry about.

But I am a bit worried about kittens. They are warming up to people a lot -- helped that I slept on the bathroom floor last night so they could get more used to human presence. And they really love Jupiter, probably because they all think he's their mama. I suspect she was the only adult cat they knew so when they saw an adult cat who washed their ears they all assumed mom is back. (Poor littles. They will never see mama again.) But a couple of them are having GI issues and I'm not sure they're gaining weight, though the previous weights are suspect because they were struggling when put on the scale. If they're not gaining weight by Thursday they have a date with the cat specialist vet in town.

2.5 this morning and then sat down and worked my butt off all day. Busy. Honestly it is a good thing I was not traveling today -- though it sounds like you all had a wonderful time!
