6.2 for me. Heading to core class shortly.

GREAT run today! I was worried, haha. I decided to go sans headphones because I was still angry over a conversation my mom and I had yesterday. It was 74 degrees and had just rained so that dewpoint was around 73. I was running in the mid 10's! Which is unheard of for me in that yuckyness! I just had a lot of stress to run out! Smile Felt good. Toe felt great. Still purple and swollen..its the huge blood blister that is bothering me the most. I am trying not to pop it.

This ends my first 60 mile week this training cycle! WOOT WOOT! Smile

Yesterday we were supposed to have a meeting via phone with one of our photographer options, they never called Sad I will have to let my wedding planner know that. Today, we are meeting one in person. One that i really like! Hopefully she if affordable. I did want to interview a few though. After that we are picking up Ruger and heading to my parents which is an hour north. Excited for the seafood boil and to see everyone! Especially cutie pie EMERSON! Smile

Carol and Laura - SEND THOSE TEMPS OVER HERE!

Tessa - Wow, lots of sights on your run yesterday. No men this time, huh? Good luck on the race today! That casserole sounds YUMMY!!

Hey Sandy, my french toast was SO GOOD LAST NIGHT!! MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

      Happy Weekend!

I'm sorry Lizzie about the mom=wedding stress.  You may have to tell her it's your damn wedding and while you appreciate her wanting to be involved it's causing stress.  You could tell her if she doesn't butt out you'll just elope.  Course you could do that and then just have a nice reception. Save a ton of money and have a kick ass honeymoon. I never had a honeymoon so that would be my big draw

I made spaghetti last night and just took my SDO.  I'm not looking forward to spending next week at our casino in KC doing a fixed asset audit but at least it's not in the middle of my 50 mile training..  I have a headache this morning so maybe this coffee will help before  my 12 miles.

        Hi to everyone.

        WINE o'clock somewhere!

Lizzie, have a great day with your family and HB to Dad!!  I will be thinking of you as I am sitting at work.  Sorry about you/Mom.  Sounds like it is going to be a tough road with her on this.

Diane, Friday is a good day for a SDO!

Karen, I am a TOTAL dipshit.  I will need my light for BB!  I am not used to running long enough to need one.  Oops/Sorry.

Happy Saturday all, off to work.

Morning.  I think I caught hubby's cold, but it's nothing too bad so far.  Sore throat and a bit of sniffling.  But I won't go to OTF like that because it just makes it worse.  4 miles tonight.

Liz, nice run.  Hope you have a great meeting with the photographer.

Diane, hoping the headache goes away. Enjoy the 12.

            Kat, hiya!

Lizzie - 60 mile week, that is amazing!!!

Diane - Kudos to you on all the miles you put in!  Wowza.  Hope the coffee helps the headache.

Kat - Hope you have a tolerable day at work!

Damarias - Hope the cold gets better!

Had a nice 4 miler this morning....have to do some “hiking” with DH later.  He is “supposed” to be training so he can do one of the big hikes in New Zealand in March    We have to do two 20 mile test hikes before we can do the Alpine crossing, which is 18ish miles.  I totally understand the group leader’s requirement for this to make sure people physically can do it.

              Hi hi to All!

              Anonymous Guest

Good morning, friends! I ran 6 miles today, 2 before the group run with a couple of the guys from last year, then 4 with the group. It is totally outside my comfort zone and normal to run various paces with various people and be encouraging and outgoing, but I think it's good for me. After the run I did a short talk on hydration, plus we had our regular gatorade and kolaches from the shoe store. One more week of me doing the seminars and then I have some people scheduled to come talk about various things. Guy from the shoe store, a sports medicine doctor, a physical trainer, a personal trainer to talk about strength training, someone to do foam rolling, and I think I have a lead on someone that can either talk nutrition or benefits of massage. I feel so much better about things this year. I am glad for the little group I had last year - this year's bigger group presents new challenges, but overall it's going to be a much better experience for everyone.

Planning on a long run tomorrow. I think I'm going to check out a park a little north of here that supposedly has 15 miles of trails, and it looks like they are similar to Brazos Bend trails (flat and nontechnical).

Tessa, enjoy the race today! I bet it's beautiful, because everything up there is.

Liz, I'm sorry you and your mom are butting heads. It's hard. Enjoy family time and your dad's birthday celebration!

Diane, hope the coffee did the trick and you're able to get the 12 miles in.

Kathryn, no problem on the headlamp. I wasn't thinking about that either, but yeah, the days will be a lot shorter in December.

Damaris, hope you're feeling better and the cold is short-lived.

Carol, I have no doubt you'll be able to do the hike......hope your DH gets to training so he can make it. I'm still jealous of your Alaska trip, but I guess I better start getting jealous of your New Zealand trip.

Karen - awww look at you being all extroverty!  As they say "there's no growth in the comfort zone and no comfort in the growth zone".  It's hard to be uncomfortable but you sure are rocking it!  Just like you rock the running.  Awww shucks.  Thank you for enjoying the antics of my incredibly sad, boring and lonely life LOL.  I love chatting with you kids on here!  So, can I ask?  How much water weight did you lose?  I should try that - would help to see exactly how much fluid I should be taking in.  Also, I would be curious how taking Endurolytes would impact that?  Or does it?

Carol - nice 4 miles.  Hope you have a good hike later!

Damaris - oh no - I'm sorry you caught DHs cold!  Hope it doesn't get too bad.

Lizzie - LOL glad you liked the French toast SO MUCH    Awww sorry for the mom drama.  Glad you could run it out!  OMG I think I would crumble running 60 miles in a week.  I would be forever tired and hangry.  You are beast!  I have a handheld water bottle but can drink that in about 6mi so looping to the water fountain works well.  I LOVED getting the run done on Friday.  Might do it the next couple weeks, too.  Just a bummer that I have to miss my TRX/Kettle Bells class that I've paid for.  Happy Birthday to your papa and enjoy that seafood!!

Kat - nice job beating the lines at the DMV.  That stuff is annoying.  Man, I could go for some of that roast RIGHT NOW.  Somehow I forgot to buy any sort of meat product in my grocery order yesterday.

Cathy - oh yes, good thing it was a rest day for you or you mighta froze out there!  LOL  OMG I didn't even THINK to tell worker dude that it isn't "jogging' it's "shufflin" haha that made me laugh.  And, I wish I would have thought of it!!  Have a great run tomorrow!!

Tessa - hope you had a good run today!

25+ ish miles biking today.  A GORGEOUS day to do so.  Sunny, not humid, not hot, not much wind.  Yep yep you all hate me right now and I COMPLETELY understand.  Hung out with RB at water stop for marathon training group.  It was super fun.  Happy hour pedi's last night were pretty fab, too.  That RB picked me up in her Miata!  Nothing else on tap for today.  Perhaps a little patio sitting is all.  Have a great weekend everyone!!

This is funny, I almost asked you guys all to do the sweat test thing to see if I was normal. Because I did it twice, the first time I ran for 1 hr, 40 minutes, drank water and gatorade and had one gu, weighed myself with my clothes on before and after (so my clothes after were soaking wet0, which complicated the math - taking into account the calories and oz of fluid consumed, etc. So then I did it again yesterday, ran one hour exactly, weighed myself naked before and after (and after my sweat dried), and didn't drink or eat anything during the run. Both times I was right at 46 oz/hour - yep, 3 lbs lost in an hour yesterday (minus calorie burn to get 46 instead of 48 oz), so I guess you don't have to be that exact, and that was also confirmation that the number was realistic for me.

So I used those numbers in my talk. Then I came home and googled sweat rate test to find something to post in our facebook group so people could do it themselves and I came across an article the said "the typical sweat rate for healthy people of average size is around 17 ounces per hour." I don't know who these healthy people of average size are, but they sure as hell don't run in Houston.

And now I want to know if you're all healthy people of average size sweaters, or disgusting Houston runner sweaters.

LOL Karen!  That was quite a bit of math, ya nerdball.   I can pretty much assure you I will not be of the healthy person average sweater type. And that’s in MN!  I will try to do this tmrw and report back

AnonymousGuest, I've been trying to figure out how I can sneak the food scale upstairs to do a before & after of my running clothes without having to explain it to DH. I tend to come in the house and immediately pound down some water, so by the time I get upstairs to where the bathroom scale is, I've already downed at least 20 oz of water, probably closer to 32oz. My clothes feel like they double in weight, guess wicking only goes so far when it's 90 degrees.

I agree about them not running in humidity to sweat only that. I could easily lose 3 lbs on the TM and 7lbs orside for 5 miles.

                            Happy Saturday!

I actually have a race result to post .  10K this morning in 53:07, which is about 30 seconds faster than last year, good enough for 2nd place in AG. The lady who got 1st place in AG is an acquaintance from town (the race was about 30 miles away).  The weather was awesome, about 53 degrees and slightly breezy.  My friend (girl I used to work with) ran it as well and she has gotten speedy, her time was 49Tight lippedx.  She has this beautiful Viszla dog that runs with her, this dog is something else.  We started together but once we got about 1/2 mile out, they were out of sight LOL.

Colored my hair and painted my toenails this afternoon, that's about as productive as I'm getting.  My DD and I are going to see 'Mamma Mia' tonight.

Lizzie - I am so impressed you are running on that toe, that looks so painful!  Ugh on the photographer not calling, I hate when professionals don't follow through with phone calls or meetings.  UGH on your mom trying to take over, that would really be frustrating!

                            Diane - have a great 12!

Carol - that hike sounds so fun! I hope your DH gets himself motivated to do it!!

Kat - I hope work goes fast!

Damaris - hope you feel better!!

Karen - you are doing so awesome with your coaching, I wish I lived closer to you!!  Nice 6

Sandy - this weather is spectacular, I am so happy!!  Nice biking today.  Enjoy your afternoon and evening!!

                            Hi K!!

                            Bikerchick1

Karen - Your r.un group sounds amazing!  I wish there was something like that here!  To answer your question about sweating since  I am a “scale obsessed” freak.... (yes, I had to find the scale in the fitness center on the cruise )  On a LR, with warm/hot weather will usually lose 2 #.  I do Try to keep up with my hydration while  running especially longer runs.  I have never actually weighed my clothes tho.  Always weight sans clothes b4/after.    I have already done one test hike a few weeks ago, he couldn’t cause he had a golf outing....which was good, he would have been on the struggle bus on that hike!

Laura - Congrats on the race and AG!!!  Which one did you do?

Sandy - Nice job on the 25 mile bike!!!  I really miss biking this year.  Last year Run/Tri buddy and I were knocking out 40 to 60 miles once a week, and I loved it!!!

Half crazy - Too funny about sneaking the food scale to weight your clothes!

                              We hiked......’nuff said...

                              Carol

Hi!  I've been a slacker this week.  No running, a couple walks, an 8 mile hike today.  Maybe a short joggity jog tomorrow.  Easing back into this running stuff...

Yay, racers!  LC, nice job on the AG award!  Tessa & Kilmisters, hope you had a good day at your races too.

Lizzie, big mileage week for you!  Pretty early in the training cycle, right?  What will the peak mileage weeks be if you're already at 60?  Yikes on the big blood blister and wonky toe!  Hopefully they heal up soon.

DHuff, hope you had a good 12 today and the headache went away.

Kat, hopefully work was tolerable today.

Damaris, boo on the cold, good call skipping OTF so the cold doesn't get worse.

Carol, what hike are you doing in NZ?  Sounds cool. Understandable that they want people to have some hiking experience before going out with the group.

Karen, you're doing a great job coaching that group.  If I were closer, I'd come for those presentations, sound useful and interesting.  I've never weighed myself before/after a run so have no idea if I my weight changes much.  I don't think so, it's not that hot here and I don't sweat a lot.  It's possible that I'm underestimating how much I sweat.  Or maybe I'm just not a "healthy person of average size"

Seloc, nice biking miles!  I rarely ride my bike because the seat is so damn uncomfortable.  Do you have a comfy seat your bike?  Or you just aren't a baby about it like me?

HCK, don't forget to wash that scale after weighing the sweaty gear.

A couple pics to share.  First, one more from my race last weekend.  My DH took this when he met me at the mile 30 aid station.  Look how dirty my legs are... sunscreen + dirt = ick.  Second one is form my hike today, nice temps with a little bit of wispy fog on the ridge.
